Yes, that is a result of removing their attachments. If it were done through the Messages page it would result in a notice being sent to the posting member showing the edit. Being done through the Emailed Photos album no notice is sent, last time I heard.

Re: Approve and unmoderate senders not working

I have chosen "Approve and unmoderate sender" multiple times for posts send by me to one of my lists, and yet messages from me are still held as pending until I approve them.
This might only work to unmoderate a "New Users Moderated" member prior to their "Automatically unmoderate new users after N consecutive approved posts." setting...

No past abuse.? My ISP/web host/VPS host picked up a never-assigned /23.
Having knocked down all the possibilities brought up so far, my guess is that
there is an obscure blocking 'somewhere' of the 'dark' (un-assigned) CIDR that
has yet to be cleared since the /23 was assigned to my ISP.

Jonesy,

Mark may be my best bet -- if he has Network Admin responsibilities.

He wrote Groups.io from the ground up. So yes as far as Groups.io goes.

Nope.? My ISP has checked and re-checked.? Anyway, as I stated originally, I receive?ALL?
messages to my group (and, now, this group) via email.

That's irrelevant to this conversation. Messages from Groups.io are delivered by its outbound email server at 66.175.222.12.

Possibly Groups.io's? inbound servers are blocking your new VSP's servers. That would be a result of past abuse. Only Mark could help you with that. If it is Linode I'm sure he'd be able to find that out from them.

Re: re deleting photos

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Bruce, the problem which was irking me is that when I select a photo to delete, that particular photo doesn¡¯t open up, it is the next one? or the one after which opens and I have to use the white ¡°back arrow¡± at the side to get to the one I want.

Your reply addresses the part of my original queries about the blank grey square after deletion, thanks for that.

The main query in my email was about the ¡°edited on¡¡± notice at the bottom of the emails.

It's not a temporary glitch.

Your browser is caching the thumbnail page, and is therefore displaying a [nonexistent] thumbnail of the image you just deleted.?Try refreshing that page (ctrl-F5) before selecting the next image to delete.

Groups.io can force that page to load from server every time -- which should fix your problem -- but that also means that it will take a performance hit for everyone who is NOT attempting to delete any photos. Which approach is the lesser of two evils is difficult to say.

Re: Upgrading from a Free account to the next level paid account #howto

Brooke,

An owner of my group tried to upgrade our group however an warning popped up saying they are not a "payor"

Any group owner ought to be able to upgrade the group.

First check that he/she is logged in with an owner's email address. When on one of the group's web pages have him/her look at the Home button at the top of the left column and verify that there is a light blue Owner badge there.
image.png

Then select the Upgrade page from the Admin list of pages
image.png

Then click the View/Change Plan button. From there it should be a matter of choosing a plan and clicking the Upgrade button for that plan.
image.png

Then enter the payment details and click Upgrade Your Group:
image.png

I'm not sure how he/she could get to a spot that warns about not being a payor. He/she should try the steps above, and report back if it goes wrong, and at what step.

As I stated originally, my ISP has had?NO?issues with email across his customer base.

I'm going to do some low level testing via telnet to port 25 in to the groups.io MTA from....
? -? first my vps (in the?45.13.66.0/23 CIDR)
? -? second from my workstation (on Comcast's 71.205.0.0/16 CIDR)

Re: Replying From the Owner Email

Donald,

I can do that myself (spoof an email address) but only with my ISP
email. I tried it with some webmail accounts and it didn't work for
me.

Using a Thunderbird account, with the SMTP settings matching my normal email address (and the POP/IMAP settings blank, and all checking turned off) is a technique I used to use when Verizon was my ISP. They'd let me spoof any From address except another Verizon address (those they'd reject back to me). Ah, simpler times.

These days I think it is very much a Your Mileage May Vary situation, depending on the policies of your email service as to whether they'll let you use a From address other than the one assigned to your account. And of course, as I mentioned in my reply to Marcio, depending on the policies of the receiving email service with regard to delivery of spoofed messages.

Clearly using Groups.io's web interface is the better option, if you can (that is, if the message you're replying to was from a member).?

Re: Replying From the Owner Email

Peter,

So your suggestion of setting up an account with Thunderbird in the name of group+owner seems like a good idea that should work.

The kind of "account" I'm referring to is something you set up on the Accounts and Import tab of the options page of Gmail's web interface. There's a Send mail as field where you can add more addresses. It doesn't create a new email address or inbox, just an ability to use that address when sending messages via Gmail's server. It has been too long since I've done it, I don't recall if or how it coordinates with Thunderbird.

In Yahoo Mail it is in the Mailboxes tab of the More Settings page, under Send-only email address. I have one setup there as the +owner address of , which I think I've used in the past year. But I only use that Yahoo Mail account for testing purposes and I don't have it set up in Thunderbird.

What Chris said about using the activity log entry is only true of +owner messages from members. Those from non-members are logged, but without a stored copy of the message that you could reply to.
?
What I often do is reply from Thunderbird using my own email address, but set a "Reply-To" field with the group's +owner address. You can do that in the same way you add a CC or BCC address.
?
Depending on your email service, you may be able to create an "account" within your email address which has the group's +owner email address. With Gmail or Yahoo Mail you'll be required to prove that you are authorized to use that address - they'll send a confirmation email to it. That could startle your co-owners/mods, so you might want to warn them if you attempt this.
?
I've stopped using this technique though because it is technically "spoofing" (even if legitimately done) and many email services are getting very touchy about displaying or even delivering spoofed messages to their users. So while this worked perfectly in a less paranoid world, it may not work so well now. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if Gmail or Yahoo still allows you to set up such a spoof.

Re: Approve and unmoderate senders not working

A couple of other things occurred to me. There is a check box which must be checked for the action "Approve and Unmoderate" to take place.

The other is that this might have been a message allowed by your integration, but all of those are moderated. You can approve them, but not unmoderate them.

Approve and unmoderate senders not working

Hi all,

I have chosen "Approve and unmoderate sender" multiple times for posts send by me to one of my lists, and yet messages from me are still held as pending until I approve them.? Anyone know what might be causing this?? I am not using Facebook, and that's the only other reference to this issue that I've seen in the forum.? Thanks.

Thunderbird can handle multiple different email accounts. If you have more than one account set up, when composing a reply there's a dropdown in the From field in the compose window and there you can choose any of your accounts.
