The main query in my email was about the ¡°edited on¡­¡± notice at the bottom of the emails.

Yes, that is a result of removing their attachments. If it were done through the Messages page it would result in a notice being sent to the posting member showing the edit. Being done through the Emailed Photos album no notice is sent, last time I heard.
