Re: Directroy
Leroy,
If the members email address could be added to the Directory,If you want members to be able to look up each other's email address, make the Members list itself visible to members. That's the Members Visible option in the Privacy section of the group's Settings page. Shal |

ruthie,
... we have a premium group¡how are we able to ¡°confirm a person¡¯sI don't have that situation, but perhaps this is the answer: in a premium group approving a pending membership also confirms the email address: /g/GroupManagersForum/message/3192 Shal |

Re: Transfer
If your YG list won't invite [email protected]?to be a member,? then it is a YG thing, To prevent an exodus?
Since groups.io has temporarily halted YG list transfers, then It may be that groups.io does not want transfer at groups.io to join any more YG lists. Consider trying?PG Offline - Download Yahoo Groups, Messages, Files and Photos. to save what you can. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?? I suspect you might be able to get partial backups at least;? it seems the problem is with YG files being corrupted which will stop typical copy and verify backups. ken clark |
Re: What is the "NC" designation
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThat is up to the person. If they have not replied to said email sent out by to confirm the email address it will remain as suck probably for good. I wonder if you could remove those or resend the invites etc?Take care

Directroy
Leroy Churchill
I find the Directory to be just short of useless not only to me but our members.? If the members email address could be added to the Directory, useless could become helpful!
I'm only been in this Group for about two weeks so I apologize if this has been suggested before. -- Leroy |
Database acting funny
Okay, so I've created a database for my group. I want the members to be able to go in and add their names to certain rows, that I've already put in. I do not want them to be able to edit the table nor do I want them to be able to add rows.
So, under "View Table" I've selected "Members" "Edit Table" I've selected "Moderators and Table Owner" "Add Rows" I've selected "Moderators and Table Owner" "Edit Rows" I've selected "members" But none of my members can see the "View/Edit rows" button at the bottom. The only way they can edit the rows is if I allow them to Edit the table too. Is this a glitch that needs to be reported, or am I missing something? Thank you all so much this group is so helpful and I am super appreciative, Tiffany |
Re: Transfers from Yahoo Groups ... Down?
Let's think about this for a minute.? As more and more folks get frustrated with Yahoogroups, and more come over to groups.io, the queue for migrating will grow accordingly.? As mentioned below, because of Yahoogroups captcha process, it can't be automated, so you need to be patient.? When I transferred my first group, it was done within a couple of hours.? I transferred another group (much larger) about a week or so ago and it took a few days.? And, between the time the first transferred and the second, Yahoogroups started giving problems with files/photo transfers.? My larger group got no files at all - so I literally had to go over to yahoogroups, download all the files to my computer, and then upload them to the groups.io group.? In the process of doing that, I discovered a LOT of hiccups/problems over at Yahoogroups with ME accessing my own files, so clearly there is more to this can of worms than meets the eye.
Patience - I don't work for groups.io, but I certainly understand "demand" and also limitations on time and personnel resources.? I'm sure SOME of the yahoogroups are migrating to googlegroups or something else.? But, I'm also sure that some of the less-active groups are simply dying off due to lack of participation.? Email isn't exactly something that the current generation uses as much as some of us older folks. Bill Hickey Boulder, CO |

Re: Mute Hashtags?
Yes, you can mute hashtags: /g/GroupManagersForum/message/120? They can also be muted by using the link at the bottom of an email, /static/help#hashtags see the Uses > Muting section.

They're dead when the "B" turns red. That's the point at which has given up even trying to send them messages See "Bounce Handling" in the Help pages. On Tue, Jan 30, 2018 at 4:33 AM, Ruth Levi <ruthlevi@...> wrote:

Re: Signature Line Question
J_Catlady
If you're not trimming posts in email, your signature will be at the very VERY bottom of the whole thread in email, and usually subsumed in ellipses. I've tried to get Mark to change this but it's probably too difficult to implement. If you trim your email post, you'll see the signature. The signature shows up on every message when posting through the group, but doesn't show up at all when I email through my personal email account. Is this normal? |
Mute Hashtags?
Is it possible to mute hashtags? In many cases that would be more accurate than muting subject lines, which can vary almost randomly.
For example, I live in a community that has frequent requests for dog walking for people in the hospital. I am not likely to ever walk a dog. I would like to mute the #dogwalking hashtag forever. Others want to mute #meals or #childcare. Is this important to others? Sharon ------ Sharon Villines, Washington, DC "As long as you have two or fewer, your ducks are always in a row." Re: Bouncing Members
Hi Ruth, I can't help with most of this because I'm new with Groups.io. Yet, I can tell you what I do with my Yahoo Groups Bouncing members; I send them an email from my personal email to see if it bounces. You get more info about why it is bouncing and if it doesn't you include a message saying that their ISP is rejecting the group messages. This happens because some ISP's look at how many people are included on to lists and bounce those that they think may be spam. Some ISP's have settings where the group member can add the group email address to a list of those that should not be rejected. Paul, Ohio, USA

When checking the email history of the bouncing member, & seeing that recent messages have been successfully delivered, how can I reactivate this member as a regular member? I like to keep my bounce numbers way down, if at all possible.? Also at what point should i consider a member ¡°dead¡±, after multiple bounce probes & no change with their email delivery?? Thanks for any advice!? Ruthie Levi |
Re: Closing chats - moderators?
#Discussion
Mark got back to me on this... as you can image he's rather crunched. Here's how it works:
The statement about who can OPEN chats is correct - it is only opening a chat. In order for a moderator to be able to perform any other management functions on a chat that has been opened, that moderator must also have been given "Edit Archives" permission. If that is granted, then a chat may be closed, reopened or deleted. Otherwise, an owner must manage an open chat. Mark did also include in his note back to me that "perhaps I should change this".... I replied that I believed that it would be a good and welcomed change. In many groups chats serve entirely different purposes than email posts. Many groups do not allow editing of archives for reasons ranging from courtesy to legal. Having to allow that editing in order for a moderator to manage a chat is not something that works in many groups. I think - hope - that Mark sees this (he was very open in our posts) - but some support about it might be helpful (once he's out from under the Yahoo mess, which could be a while...). There is a post in Beta about it... Ginny T |
Re: Database Search II
Since the Search box isn't available until a database is opened, I would think it would only search that one.? I was able to reproduce this once I found an item that was included in more than one database.? I tend not to search, but sort by the column that will make finding things easier, so hadn't noticed it before.? It should be reported to [email protected]
