If you are using a computer, click on Messages. At the bottom of the message that is locked, click on the little down arrow to unlock the topic.

If you open the message on your computer, you can use the ... More button at the bottom of the message to do the same thing.

You mention you have arthritis. I am not sure if that means you are using special software. If you are, perhaps there is a spoken command that I am unaware of. Please let us know.

The nearest I can figure is that you were on the Topics view of the group.? For example, if you look at this group in Topics view, you'll see that those with attachments will show a preview/link on the right.

?Have you compared the addresses and settings for this one with those that work? That would be the simplest way to see what's happening.? I suspect some small difference that you're not aware of yet.

That's what I'd also think, some small difference on the gmail account settings between one which works and this problem one.

One way to check this is, in your test group add both the problem one and a working gmail forwarding account, and set both to forward to that test group, and see if the problem one still doesn't work.

If you want I can add the problem account to a group of mine, then you can set it to forward to my group and then do a test to see what happens, see if I get the same error you get. If you want to do that contact me offlist.

Clockwork Bouncing

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Every day at about the same time, plus or minus two or three minutes, I get a "your group is bouncing" message from groups.io. The number of rows varies. Today it was fifty messages in three hours. All the rows in the table look like this:

5.0.0 smtp; 552 5.2.2 <bistrack@...>: Recipient address rejected: Quota exceeded (mailbox for user is full)

What mailbox? Certainly not mine--I know this for a provable fact. So then, what is orepack.com and what connection do they have to either me or groups.io?

And another interesting thing--this only happens on one of my two email addresses that have email lists on groups.io.

What's going on, and how can I stop it from happening every day?

Re: groups.io will not accept a group's member's e.mail forward from gmail

Before adding the alias the email sent back to the forwarder was simply "mhcgfx1b9j+caf_@..." is not a group member.

So I added the alias of the same...

Once that was done there are NO return emails to the forwarder! Yet groups.io logs what I have below and does not distribute to the group.

Are you now saying that the alias be changed from "mhcgfx1b9j+caf_@..." to "mhcgfx1b9j+caf_=p7j3q9k5=groups.io@..." ???

This appears arcane, even unnatural.

But I will give it a try.

Can't anyone explain why all my gmail forwards to other groups.io groups done months and years ago do not behave like this and without aliases? Someone who wrote these interfaces should know what is going on!!!

thanks
rich

Re: Transfer number from one group to another?

Bruce,

Why not make your BOD a subgroup of the Main group? I have a similar group and we have lots of restricted subgroups that are not seen as a subgroup unless one is a member. People are removed from the subgroups and direct added when needed.

There is no space - just an underscore being obscured by the link underlining.

Re: groups.io will not accept a group's member's e.mail forward from gmail

The "alias" did not work!

This is the message log now for each attempt for gmail account mhcgfx1b9j to forward to [email protected]:

Non-member mhcgfx1b9j+caf_=p7j3q9k5=groups.io@... attempted to send message "Find Deals Near You With Your Twigby Discount Program" via email

And the member?is clearly there:

???? Mom ??? mhcgfx1b9j@... ??? No Email ??? Sep 7

And the alias is:

Aliases ??? mhcgfx1b9j+caf_@...

So the alias is in place and the member is correct but email forwarded from mhcgfx1b9j@... is STILL not being accepted and distributed to the group.

What next?

As I have repeatedly said, many other groups.io I have created in the past have never had this problem with forwarding from a gmail member AND never needed an "alias".

I'm at Witt's End!

True -if added to the group as a separate account-, but if you had a paid*** group you could direct-add her so no confirmation email would be sent out. (*** or setup an integration as Bruce mentioned)

But the alias part is no worry, there are no confirmation emails sent to an alias since it's not a regular account but just a nickname, so no group emails or whatnot will ever go to that alias. Aliases just allow someone to post something from a different email address but when posted it looks like it came from the main address, not the alias. All group messages (if this account was setup to receive them) would go to the main address, not the alias.

I dont know how to create an alias. I did some searching but didnt find it.

That info would be in the User manual, not the Owner manual, it's in here. You need to be logged in as her, go to the upper right of screen where the account settings are, all the way down click on Aliases, add the address and save.

Christos

I have a similar situation. Our main group ["general members"] is on the Premium plan - mainly just to support this platform - while the BOD group is Basic. Whenever we have our annual election results, I remove the outgoing board members from the BOD group and send the incoming ones an invitation.
?
If your member notices of type Removed Member and Invite are set up properly in the leadership group then these activities pretty much explain themselves. However, the incoming board members do have to opt in and click the link, which sometimes requires a little hand-holding.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

The groups would be separate entities and there's no single action you can take that would transfer a member from one group to another.? As an Owner, you can always remove a member from a group. If you have a Premium group, you can Direct Add a member to that, otherwise, you would be limited to sending them an invite and waiting for them to respond.
