My group is not a discussion group. I have my group set to an announcement group with all new postings by me only and all responses to my postings to me only. This is appropriate for this situation. I have stated those things quite explicitly in my message. I have been a member?of a number of discussion groups (yahoo, google, and ) over the years. I even wrote software to run such a group back in the?1980s. I'm an active member of a discussion group now and I like the way it works.? A few people whom I have?added who have welcomed the?anouncements sent from my own email via bcc have actually been so turned off by the officialese Welcome and other messages that they have unsubscribed. In addition, several others have expressed their distress directly and I've had to soothe their concerns. Welcome is sent when someone joins your group on their own or you add them, Direct Add is only used when you add them.? There is a default Welcome created when you create a group, but can be modified, including deleting, to suit you. I might add that this entire problem could be finessed by concisely?adding the required information in a footer, rather?than embedding the group owner's original message in a morass of officialese.

I did include the information you refer?to in my own Direct Add massage. I noted in my posting that the GMF welcome message does not include the boilerplate welcome, and was told in a response to my posting that I could replace the boilerplate welcome with my own message, as GMF has done. I followed the link that was given to replace the boilerplate mention. There is no mention in the help documentation that this procedure would, to put it bluntly, not work. Is there no workaround? I have another suggestion for you. I think it might be a good idea to explain to your group what a list serve is and how it works. Many people ?who are unfamiliar with the ¡°every email goes to everyone process are horrified by the idea at first. If you explain that everyone learns from listening, they can get excited. Also if you take the time to explain logistics to new people they may be happier? hope this helps Kathleen |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJust thought of that, it may had been the browser's autocomplete feature messing this up somehow, I had this happen a few times in other sites where I thought I had cleared the field using backspace only for the same value to reappear.In any case, all's well that ends well! Hi,? I followed the instructions to create my own Direct Add message, but when I do a Direct Add, the message I created?appears within the default message. My own message is the italicized part of the following. (I italicized that portion for this posting only.)? When I look at the Direct Add message I created in Admin > Settings > Member Notices > Direct Add, only the italicized part appears. But when I go to actually do a Direct Add, the message that is shown is the full text shown below. I expected that my Direct Add message alone would appear when I do a?Direct Add. Hi,? I had stated that when I empty out the Subject Tag field and press Update Group, the default tag reappears. Indeed, as several suggested, I must have been doing something wrong, because when I tried it again just now, that procedure did the Tag, which was the desired result.? For some reason my emails for the computer forum are not being received at jocaan@....? They are instead being misdirected and going to an old email address that I do not use for computer problems most of the time.? I only have been able to write this inquiry because I logged onto this website.? I would like to receive, through email, the computer discussion messages using the username noted for this message.? My username for this email address should not be jocaan_1 but simply jocaan.??
Please advise how I can correct this mix-up.?? Frank C.?? |

Here is the raw data?of a message sent to a gmail account but was undelivered to a yahoo account.??.? I'm assuming it would be identical to the message blocked by Yahoo.? I'm not sure what to look for. Mark

Undelivered mail to Yahoo, AOL and Verizon email address

In our group,?there is a problem of undelivered mail to Yahoo, AOL and Verizon email addresses.? This only occurs with one account with a mail.com address.? Her email posts are properly delivered to all the other email domains.? ?She happens to be our new president so this is a serious problem for us.? ?Looking at the bounced messages there is a 554 error: 'Message not accepted for policy reasons.'? This indicates the messages are being rejected by Yahoo.com, AOL.com and Verizon.com.? The posts of any of our other 350 members are not blocked by these three email domains.? Does Yahoo, AOL and Version have more stringent criteria for filtering out 'bot mail' than for example gmail?? Is there something about the mail.com address that could cause this?? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem would be appreciated.
