This is the total number of messages CURRENTLY in your Yahoo group.
That's not so simple for a large, old group. The chunky group which I help run has been going for almost 20 years, so the Y! home page for it has 240 numbers to copy and paste and add together; and the oldest months of the archives have a lot of missing messages, so even that would not give an accurate result.
Transferred that group this month, though, and it would (just) have scraped under Mark's generous limit. For reference, the Y! latest message number was about 113?000, and about 80?000 messages were transferred safely.
