I recognize that as a quote from a post of mine, and unfortunately, it was quoted out of context. I was addressing someone who had specifically set their group to NuM. It is not the case that all new members in any group are moderated by default. It depends on the group¡¯s settings.

Hello,

We early adopters have been extremely demanding and there are many tweaks in order to get what we want! So yes, it is a little complicated but I think you will be able to do what you want.

Here¡¯s a thread talking about new users - not absolutely sure it means transfers from YG. And the key message:

¡°ALL new users are moderated in your group, including you. Go into your settings and check the number (1, 2, 3, or 4) in the "new users moderated" setting. That is the number of posts from each member that need to be approved before they are unmoderated.¡±

Go to your Groups.io homepage.
Click on Admin on the left menu.
That opens a list of tools including Settings.
Click on Settings.
Scroll down until you get to Spam Control.

Lots of other tweaks here too.
Be sure to save settings.
