If you're sure you're logged in correctly, the only time I've seen this happen is when someone merged two accounts (email addresses). If you didn't do that, I'm at a loss.

Since you aren't running a paid group, you might have more luck reporting this as a #bug in instead of sending an email to support. Leaving a group ownerless is theoretically not possible, so if this truly did happen Mark should be able to verify that and not only reinstate you but also head off whatever circumstances allowed it to occur.
