Yes indeed that's what I want to happen, and I hoped it
would with the membership notice added as described by Steph. But I
tried it out, added a message, then signed out, found my group and
joined simply by adding another email address. Sure enough my
membership notice email came through, but so did another joining email
with a confirmation link. Clicking that link joined my other 'me' as a pending member, but by the looks of it unable to post or see messages until approved. So it seems to do the job.
