Just editing the message will claim it. You don't necessarily need to save it afterwards.
There is no need to actually edit the message, just clicking [Edit] and then [Cancel] will claim it for you.
I did ask for a [Claim] button - there is one somewhere else, on a pending membership IIRC - but it has never appeared.
