When I do a test by trying to subscribe by sending an e-mail to [email protected], the test user gets an e-mail telling him to "complete" his subscription by replying to the message, but there is no link in that e-mail that one can click (except for the e-mail address itself, but that is because my e-mail program automatically changes e-mail addresses into links). On some other mailing list systems that I have seen, the reply sent in request to a "subscribe" or "join" e-mail also contains a unique link that one can click in order to confirm one's subscription (and one's e-mail address), but the IO reply does not have that, unfortunately.
