IMO, the interface needs work. For example, it should be possible to
paste in an owner's name, rather than having to pick it from an
unsorted list.
In doing it per your instructions, I'm puzzled. One of my groups
with this issue has two Owners, myself, the Founder, and a co-owner.
The orphaned pictures have all been assigned to the co-owner. Do you
know how the orphan owner is assigned by Groups when there are
several Owners?

Jhn; it's unremittingly tedious; trust me I know.
The process is as follows:
- Go to the photo the ownership of which you want to reassign.
- Click on the photo.
- Click on Edit
- Find the box called Owner
- Click on the drop - down arrow at the right hand side of the
box.
This brings up a list of all your members' Display Names, but
not in alphabetical order.
- Using your keyboard enter the initial letter of the Display
Name of the member to whom you want to assign the photo.
- Continue to enter that letter until the required Display
Name appears. Overshoot and you will have to start again;
AFAIK there is no reverse gear!
- Once found click on it and the photo will be reassigned to
the new owner.
- Procede to the next photo and repeat until you realise that
you shouldn't have started...
