IMHO you have omitted an important stage. Your group might be the only group this member subscribes to. However, it might also be that he or she is a member of other groups, and changing the email address in one of them will result in either (a) your member now having two separate accounts or (b) some other form of confusion? I haven't thought of.
Even if you are fully aware of the implications your member might
not be. Are you willing to take full responsibility for any outcome that is less than desirable or unexpected? It is far better for individual subscribers to make changes to their accounts and subscriptions because they then have to accept responsibility for their own actions.
Does your member fully appreciate the possible effects of what you are contemplating?
