It is also possible that her account had the desired address listed as an email alias. A setting that the member can make in the Account->Login section. Perhaps the yahoo transfer process is populating that in some cases.

i wouldn't have mentioned this, but I just ran into it again.
Re display names: I am going through my member list and adding them so they now appear in messages. But that had nothing to do with this problem.
