#1, yes, you can, if you pay for a premium group for one year. Otherwise, you don't get to transfer the group messages, pictures, etc. If you do it yourself, you will have to transfer everything manually. I don't know how you could export/import your messages but I know how to archive them using PG Offline. I just don't know how to convert them to a useful format to upload into GIO. If you had done this before February of this year, group transfers were free.
#2, yes, they can. In fact, some will do so, especially if they are against the move. And some will ask that you don't transfer their messages as it is their personal information. Most won't give you any trouble and will just opt-out if they don't want to be part of the new group.
#3, you won't be adding people against their will, will you? That could get you into some trouble. I assume that you'd get their permission and send out an invitation rather than do a direct add. I believe you have to have a premium group anyway to do a direct add, otherwise you only can invite people to join.
