Re: Shopping for online group to replace club's current Yahoo groups #yahoo

Doug,

1. Is it correct we could import exiting Yahoo groups into this site
to get started.
Yes. You can simply start a group here and invite your former YG members to join it. You would have to re-upload any other content that you wish to copy from your YG.

Or (for a fee) you can use the Easy Group Transfer. See:
/static/transfer
and GMF's notes:
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups

Note that the Easy Group Transfer doesn't actually create the new group for you - you set up your Groups.io group first and then start the transfer when you're ready.

2. Can someone added by step 1 to this group opt out at anytime?
Yes.

They'll receive a notification during the transfer, and the notice will have an opt-out link.

3. As we collect more members/guest email address and add them to
this group can they opt out if desired?
Members can unsubscribe at any time, by email or by web.

If yours is a Basic (free) Groups.io group you can only Invite people to join. To Direct Add them you must upgrade to a Premium group.

Someone said today "You use Yahoo Groups, that's so 1980s", I said
maybe more like '1990s'.
Heh. Yup, that's why Groups.io exists.
