Re: so I've got a strange question about intigrations.

Shane,

This information normally comes in the form of a docx file that after
sending in the body of an e-mail is uploaded to the files section of
the site for retrieval later ...
To clarify, you author the document as a docx, copy/paste the content to a message that you send to the group, and then upload the docx to the group's Files section. Have I got the right mental picture?

... if a member doesn¡¯t feel like trolling the archive.
Why would a member find it easier to troll the File section than the Messages section?

That's not really rhetorical, I'm trying to understand the use case.

I know that the two sections have different organizing principles - with Files you can organize them into folders. With messages you can hashtag them for quick access. Both sections are searchable (though I haven't tested whether File search can find content inside a docx file, it seems to be able to read PDF so there's a chance).

Oh, and speaking of PDF, I always recommend that over doc or docx for sharing content with others - unless it is a close community and you know they have the tools for dealing with doc or docx. PDF also has the advantage that most browsers can open the file directly, rather than requiring a download.

I¡¯m suspecting at least the uploading may have to be done manually,
but if not, I¡¯m all for it.
Groups.io has an API, but I've never looked into using it. I don't know if it will help you or not.

I was thinking a receive only aliase could receive the text from a
script and fire it off.
Fire it off to an integration address for the group. Yes, that should work.

Or if you mean that the script would deliver the content directly to the integration address, I guess that would be possible depending on your toolkit's support for SMTP transactions. I know Mark has been working on upgrades to the authentication of inbound group postings, but I don't know if or how that might apply to integration addresses (as opposed to the group's posting address).

I know the changes that mark uploads weekly have to be automated, lol.
Hmm... I wonder. I've always imagined that he manually curates that, reading from something maintained by his dev tools.
