I have to show off this beautiful antique flute.
Hawkes & Sons, London
Made before 1930. That's when Hawkes merged with Boosey.
It's in excellent shape, without cracks, and the mechanism is modern and in almost perfect working order. Sadly, it cannot be restored. It's tuned a half tone sharp and unlike silver flutes, wooden flutes cannot be retuned.
It will live out its life as an interesting museum piece.
