Re: New Member questions..help please :)

Wilhelm Hansen

Darla,
The first is what exactly are the restrictions to her diet. <
The main restrictions are:
Foods -
Hydrogenated fats and oils, animal fats, chemicals and preservatives
(such as nitrite), sugar, white flour and processed foods in general.
Non foods -
Chemo therapy and radiation are strongly opposed by Dr.Budwig.

I am vegetarian but occasionally I eat free range eggs... <
Eggs yolks are high in animal fat. I would restrict eating yolks until I
am much better. Egg whites are low in fat.

...small amounts of cheese and fish. Are any of these not allowed? <
Small amounts of cheese are permitted but watch how much fat is in the
cheese and whether you can get it organic. Fish is not mentioned as part
of the Budwig diet. However I doubt that it would be a problem if you
can get good fresh fish with very low heavy metal contamination.

What about goat milk and goat chesse? <
I don't recall Dr.Budwig mentioning goat milk as part of her diet.
However, I don't see why. The sulphurated proteins are similar to cow
milk. Perhaps it is because it is difficult to get low fat goat milk.

I am confused by no animal products but she talks about milk, yogurt,
cottage cheese. <
I agree with Leonard's reply to this: "The benefits of flaxseed oil
mixed w/cottage cheese (FSO/CC) or yogurt FAR
outweigh the harmful aspects of dairy."

do I need to eliminate extra-virgin olive, ... <
Olive oil is not mentioned as part of the Budwig diet. Coconut oil is.

... safflower, sunflower and grapeseed oils also? <
I agree with Leonard's reply.

What about 100% pure peanut butter and nuts? <
Peanut butter should be avoided. Most other nuts are ok (I don't know of
any other restrictions), but eat them raw.

Should I be using small amounts of the other omega oils? <
None that are processed, cleaned heated or partially hydrogenated. They
contain trans-fatty acids. That takes care of many (or most?) of the
oils you buy in supermarkets. Buy them cold pressed and organic and use
them sparingly. You can easily get your omega 3 to 6 'balance' or
relationship too much towards the omega 6 side which is the case with
most people who eat the usual western diet. Beware of store bought salad
oils and dressings.

Is it normal to have some bloating and extra fullness when beginning?
<
I don't know. It didn't happen to me.

What are the best books of hers to get, and where is the best place to
get them..Amazon? <
There are only two books of hers in English. I recommend to get both. I
understand that Barleans is the cheapest place to get them.

Do the majority of you think that Barlaens is the best oil? <
Barleans is a good oil. Many say so. I use Spectrum. It is good too.

Is 1 Tablespoon for every 25 pound body weight accurate, and how much
flax meal do you really
need to use daily? <
That is fairly accurate. Since this is food, I don't see this as a
precise science. Being in the right ballpark is about all we can do. The
usual measure we us is 1 tblsp FSO per 100 lbs of body weight for
maintenance. If you fight cancer add at least 2 additional tblsp.
Example: A person weighing 200 lbs and fighting cancer would take 4
tblsp of FSO with the requisite amount of low fat quark or cottage
cheese.

And last how long does one normally wait to see good results if they
follow her protocol strictly.. ( I am looking
ultimately for my breast lumps/tumors to be gone) I keep hearing 3-4
months does that sound like the norm? <
I don't know if there is a norm. I have heard of cancer cases that were
healed in 3 to 4 months using the Budwig approach, but they were not
breast cancer cases. Everyone is different and cancers are different so
it is hard to say. I believe it is important to follow the diet strictly
until for best results as you intend to do.

I will re-post some breast cancer testimonials for your information
right after this.

Best to you and good health, Wilhelm

Hope this helps

Hi Leonard,
In your reply to Darla, you mentioned almonds being excellent. Is this because they are a natural form of omega-6's? I guess what I am asking is: Do you feel the omega-6's are okay in the nuts but not in the oils, such as sunflower and safflower?
Thanks for your time. I enjoy reading your responses.

Hi Darla,

I'm not an expert on Dr. Budwig's diet. My answers are based mainly on the
guidelines of other cancer-healing diets.

From: d_lallatin <d_lallatin@...>
I am 33 years old young Mother, battling breast cancer alternatively.
I have been doing a lot of research and I am impressed with what I
have read about Johanna Budwigs protocol. I started using the flax
and cottage cheese/yogurt 2 weeks ago, but I have some questions.
The first is what exactly are the restrictions to her diet. I am
vegetarian but occasionaly I eat free range eggs
I think eating free-range eggs occasionally is ok, but it's much better if
they're organic, preferably Omega 3.

small amounts of cheese
It's best if it's organic, skim, cultured (i.e., cottage cheese), and
unprocessed.

fish.
As long as it's not too polluted and as long as it's not farm-raised. Alaskan
salmon's best.

What about goat milk and goat chesse?
They're much better than cow dairy. It's important that they be organic and
preferably skim and ideally cultured (e.g., buttermilk).

I am confused by no animal products but she talks
about milk, yogurt, cottage cheese.
The benefits of flaxseed oil mixed w/cottage cheese (FSO/CC) or yogurt FAR
outweigh the harmful aspects of dairy.

do I need to eliminate extra-virgin olive
I don't think so. Omega 9 oils (olive & avocado) are relatively (if not
completely) benign and they're safe for low-to-medium-temperature cooking.

safflower, sunflower and grapeseed oils also
Omega 6 (polyunsatured), which includes the above and most all other oils, much
be STRICTLY avoided. Peanut oil's somewhere in the middle (i.e., mediocre). If
you do very-high-temperature cooking (which I don't recommend), use only COCONUT
or palm oil (or organic animal fat as a last resort).

100% pure peanut butter
best to avoid it. Raw almond butter's excellent though (pumpkin seed butter's
also good).

nuts?
I'd avoid peanuts. The rest are acceptable, but I'd try to consume only raw
almonds (excellent), walnuts, and coconuts.

Should I be using small amounts of the other omega oils?
Omega 9 (olive, avocado)'s ok but not necessary. High-quality, unheated,
nonpolluted fish oil's cancer-healing. It's best to avoid just about all other
cooking oils. GLA (in borage oil) and shark liver oil are quite cancer-healing.

Leonard

crushed pineapple and Stevia and a salad dressing/spread with garllc/lemon

Otherwise, I only use COQ10 and some vitamins. I use visualization to focus

But her work will be contiued by the relatives. We are thinking over, how

In the next four Months her account will be empty and we have to sell the

Many thanks for your readiness for action.
My next visit will be on the end of April. Then I will report again.

Pancreatic Cancer - update

Sandy Lightfoot

Hi Everyone!

My! This list has been quiet of late .... Where is everyone?
A few weeks ago, I wrote to you all asking for testimonials for folks who
had or had cured Pancreatic Cancer. I had a copy of your tape Cliff, so
lent it to this fellow's son Jim, who made a copy for himself. I also gave
him a ten page collection of notes from me (collected off various web sites
and this forum) all about FO/CC.

A couple of weeks ago, I called Jim, so see how his Dad was doing. What he
told me was very interesting. First of all, when I first talked to Jim,
his Dad had 'supposedly' only 2-6 weeks to live (according to his Doctors).
He couldn't feed himself or walk without that aid of a walker and he was on
lots of Morphine.

Apparently, he has improved so much, he is feeding himself and walking
un-aided. And while he was watching a movie with his family, he actually
'laughed' ... something he hadn't done for a very long time. In fact he was
doing so well, his Dr decided to try him on chemo (that's the bad news), but
on the bright side, he is continuing with the FO/CC, as well as taking a few
other supplements. At last report everyone is amazed at his progress. Of
course he isn't out of the woods yet, but he has managed to live 3 months
longer than he was supposed to and is continuing to improve, so that's a
plus, right?

When he was first diagnosed, his cancer was regarded at too advanced to
attempt chemo. How strange that they now consider him well enough to
withstand it? Anyway, so far he seems to be doing OK.

That's it for now!
Take care ...
Sandy Lightfoot.
