Re: Linomel

hi Syd,

In one of my books it says the ratio of flax seed to honey is 6 to 1.

I'm not sure if using chocolate as part of your recipe is such a good
idea, since Dr. Budwig's diet says no caffeine. There is a cocoa
powder you can buy that is 99% caffeine free. It's called Wonder Cocoa
and I get it online at The Better Health Store at this link.

Some health food stores carry it too.

chocolate with a linomel center, as a convenient way to get my mid
morning and afternoon flaxseed dose. Does anyone know the ratio of
ground flax seed to honey in Linomel?

Thanks

How much FO/CC?

hi everyone,

Can anyone please tell me how much and how often you take the fo/cc?
I haven't had anyone write me back since my last post. I've read all
the files in the archives and there are many different "recipes".

Is 1 tablespoon FO to 2 tablespoons CC twice a day sufficient?

Do you eat other foods with it or just the fo/cc alone as a meal?

I really could use some help.

thanks again,
Carol

--- In FlaxSeedOil2@..., "Carol R." <carolroars@h...>

I'm really confused about how much fo/cc to take each day. The book
talks about much larger portions of fo/cc and grated seeds than what
it seems most are doing.

I'm taking 1 tablespoon of FO to 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese
with the little bit of juice and/or fruit, and do that twice a day,
morning and afternoon.

But what about the rest of the diet? Do you all do that diet the way
it says in the book, or do you just eat your regular healthy diet
and add the fo/cc?

I just feel like I'm not doing this right. I've read so many
different versions of this diet and all the information is so
overwhelming.

How much fo/cc do you take and how often?

Top ten reasons to keep drug companies :-)

Top 10 reasons why we need drug companies

by Tim Carney http//community.webtv.net/timrockman/TimCarneyPhotosand

1. Cures We need drug companies to keep finding cures for major
diseases. Look at all the cures they've found so far like... well...
okay, they haven't actually found any cures yet. But maybe they can at
least cure all the bogus diseases they made up like "social anxiety
disorder" and "attention deficit hyperactivity disorder."

2. National Security U.S. drug companies are crucial for
protecting our national security by banning prescription drugs from
untrusty drug countries like Canada.

3. The Economy never mind that most pharmaceutical companies
sell useless products at ridiculous prices. All that money changing
hands is great for the economy. You may be diseased, but think on the
bright side your Big Pharma stocks are soaring! (With all that money,
you might even be able to afford health insurance...)

4. Doctors Without the pharmaceutical companies, what would all
the doctors do for work? After all, most so-called "medicine" involves
little more than scribbling out a prescription for the latest
mass-advertised drug. Without drugs, doctors might actually have to TALK
to patients. Horrors!

5. Ethics With Enron gone, we need a new, national example of
strong ethics that properly communicate the essence of American
corporate greed. Pharmaceutical companies could make Enron look like the
Girl Scouts.

6. Political Fundraising We need drug companies to support the
re-election efforts of national leaders.

7. Publishers Without drug company advertising, who would
support all the newspaper and magazine publishers in this country? After
all, many print publications are now little more than pro-drug
infomercial rags dressed up to look like credible news magazines.

8. Patient Responsibility Without drug companies shifting
health responsibility away from patients, the people would actually have
to think for themselves and take control of their own health. That's
simply too much to ask from a dumbed-down population.

9. The Environment Drug companies set an excellent example of
fair and balanced environmental policy, which is why antidepressant
drugs are now showing up in the water supply. Their new environmental
slogan? "You take it, you flush it, we fuggedaboutit!"

10. The Elderly Everybody agrees we need honest U.S. businesses
to look out for the interests of our elders. Pharmaceutical companies
handle this with finesse by taking over the full monthly incomes of most
retired folks. It's a genuine public service.

The best one is supposed to be "the 'Master Cleanser'" ... "a particularly
effective way to fast and internally cleanse on just 'lemonade' (made with
maple syrup) without incurring significant energy loss or discomfort,
allowing one to continue working normally while efficiently detoxing and
healing various ailments".

For instructions and very long excerpts,

Fasting while travelling?

I am moving from Montreal to Alberta which is a very long drive. I
will be sleeping and driving straight through and I was wondering if
anyone has any ideas on how to best accomplish this. I have been
considering doing some sort of fast for the duration of the trip. My
thinking is that since I have not done any type of detox and it will
be too complicated to the fo/cc or fresh juices, it would be a good
opportunity to try something else for a few days.

Any ideas on what is a good cleansing fast? I was thinking about the
three day apple fast but I am open to any good ideas.

Kimchee should do anything any cabbage family plant should do. My son made a spicy, reddish Kimshee from a recipe he has and I thought it was delicious.

My wife thought it smelled up the refrigerator.

Re: cabbage juice---Interesting aside...

When I looked up "kimchi cancer" I found one site that said that Asians
have a higher incidence of stomach cancer from eating kimchi(though
many other sites appeared to contradict such an assertion), and it also
said that Asian women have a higher incidence of lung cancer because of
cooking by stir-frying:

I doubt that affects any of us, since, even if we do some stir-frying,
we don't do it over the very high heat the Asians do, and someone on
the Budwig diet would likely not be stir-frying meat very much.

Re: cabbage juice

Hi,

Just do and internet search under "kimchi cancer" and you will see
plenty of stuff about the preventative/therapeutic effects of kimchi
on cancer. The garlic does add to the the therapeutic benefits. One
site, this one, appears to say that incidence of stomach cancer is
higher among Asians due to the eating of kimchi:

But the overwhelming majority of articles say that there is
tremendous benefit to eating it. Perhaps one should not eat it so
terribly fiery hot...?

"Anti-cancer effect of kimchi

As the standard of living becomes higher and people are more aware of
health, people throughout the world fear the diseases of adult
people. Cancer is at the top of the list. Kimchi, once again, proved
its scientific value by showing it has an anti-cancer property.

Vegetables like Chinese cabbage prevents the large intestine cancer,
and garlic which is included in all kinf\ds of kimchi prevents the
stomach cancer.

Garlic is added to most of Korean dishes as part of the seasoning,
and is an absolute additive to kimchi. It is crushed, sliced, or cut
into fine strips depending on the kind of kimchi it is used for. Raw
garlic when cut or chewed is very pungent. Western people tend to
dislike garlic because of its flavor. However, garlic is a helpful
food in many ways. In recent years various garlic foods are coming
into the limelight, especially after it was discovered to have an
anti-cancer effect.

Garlic's anti-cancer property had been asserted only in Eastern
herbal medicine. Now the Western medicine recognizes its medical
value after an experiment showed that hamsters which had been
injected with garlic juice showed far less cases of cancer than which
had not been. These are not the only benefits of kimchi. Kimchi has a
relatively big amount of beta-carotene which can help prevent lung
cancer. And chili has a substance called capsicine that gives the hot
flavor to the fruit. Capsicine facilitates the secretion of the
pseudo-hormonic substances like endorphins, which helps remove
nicotine from the surface of lung."

My wife is Korean and we occassionally eat the Korean side dish called Kimchee that is slightly fermented I think. It has cabbage, garlic and some other spices in it. With this talk about cabbage and its' effects on cancer, I was wondering if anyone has looked at whether Kimchee has anti cancer properties.

Thanks so much for the reply, Elliot. I appreciate you taking the time to copy that from another list. :)

So, as far as adding something (lemon, sea salt...) for flavor..... or not eating/drinking anything after for a little while....what are your thoughts?

Re: Flaxseed and diabetes

Dear Ryhton,
I cannot speak for the flax seed oil connection to diabetes. I read where
cinnamon brings blood sugar down in approx. 2 weeks. It can be added in tea.
Flax seed oil is good to bring blood pressure down.
I also know that some drugs have caused diabetes, like zyprexia. Exercise is
always helpful, if the person is mobile.
Best to you,
Pamela

Hi, ooh!

Mixing ground flax seed with honey(linomel) would allow you to keep it
around till it was time for you to eat it without the flax seed losing
potency due to oxidation. And you could take cottage cheese and flax
oil in a cooler/thermos box, along with a Braun battery-operated
blender and make up the mixture in the break room on the job.

Re: cabbage juice

Kim wrote---
"Also, I had read (I think in the files) that eating raw cabbage can have the same effect as drinking the juice. Any comments?"

Kim, here is a message copied from another message board:

"what's so special about the cabbage family?

Anticarcinogenic compounds may be present only in specific
vegetables, thereby attenuating findings for total vegetable intake.
Cruciferous vegetables, ie cabbage and brussle sprouts, contain
precursors of isothiocyanates (ITCs), which may be chemopreventive
through potent inhibition of phase I, and induction of phase II
enzymes, such as glutathione S-transferases (GSTs).
Also, some putative protective phytochemicals are found in higher
amounts in young sprouts than in mature plants, not really relevent
to cabbage, but interesting nevertheless.

Also vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, cabbage and broccoli, are
high in calcium, vitamin D, and these help reduce the risk of cancer."

I do think, Kim, that souring the cabbage may potentiate the anti-
cancer effects, make the anti-cancer elements in the cabbage more
digestible, and add bacteria to the mix that are good for the
digestion and the body as a whole. However, there appears to be no
question that eating raw cabbage, or lightly cooked cabbage, is
significant against cancer. (Sweet potatoes are excellent, too! To
repeat myself yet again,(sorry), a study or studies in Europe showed
that even smokers who regularly ate cabbage and sweet potatoes---
perhaps twice or three times a week, either got less cancer than
smokers who didn't or actually got less cancer than the average of
the population on the whole.)

Hi Edmond,
flaxseed oil is one of the basic ingredients in the Budwig Protocol.

The best way to quickly learn about it is to read our files 1 to 6 and also buy
the two of Dr. Budwig's books that are available in English.

I live near Vancouver in Maple Ridge. If you think I can be of help, please
email me privately.

Regards,
Wilhelm

Hi Terry,

I am blessed to live in a rural setting on two acres. I have been a
moon watcher all my life and I actually can "feel" the special light
of the full moon on my skin. So just as I sit or walk in the sun
without my glasses (I am not quite Mr. Magoo yet), I love to sit out
in the full moonlight whenever I can. I often go out under the night
sky for prayer and meditation on gratitude and somehow it gives me the
strength of soul to face another day. Hope any of my "notes" are helpful.

Hello,

My husband have the cancer of stomache, we both work too, monday to friday 8 to 8 and Sabados from 8 to 2. But we are lucky, because we get one hours for lunch from 2 to 3pm. What I does for him, I prepare the fresh salads fresh every night, and the fruits I wash and cut and make ready everything to take. He have the one bottle of oil in a mini-refri at work and has the cottage cheese there too. In the morning I preprare juice and flax seed and he drink some with breakfast and take rest to work. I also preprare the oil and cottage with banana for breakfast too. - we buy 2 mixer, so he have a mixer at work, and with a hour free, he mix there the oil and cottage to have fresh. At night, he just dring this krout juice and have a very little snack of papaya with lime and sea salt ( but no chili ) on the top of it. it seem to be working well, just have to be organize it all every night, because we get to home so late, after nine everydays.
