Morning Cereal a Killer
Larry Clapp
Gerry and all--

"Your morning cereal" is very unhealthy. Switch to eggs, bacon or better yet a FO/CC smoothie! From: Dr Douglas: "Cereal Killers Is your breakfast worse than no breakfast? I came across a study that I can say without a doubt is amateurish and useless. Here's what the researchers concluded: "Eating breakfast might have beneficial effects on appetite, insulin resistance and energy metabolism... [sugar abnormality] rates were 35 percent to 50 percent lower among people who ate breakfast every day compared to those who frequently skipped it." Come again? Talking about breakfast, without identifying what they mean by breakfast, is about as sensible as talking about love or religion or sex without some qualification. A nutritious breakfast IS good - but the breakfast chosen by most Americans is worse than no breakfast at all. The big food companies have convinced most people that food barely adequate for barn animals and lots of sugar and starch are the way to start your day. And the junk medicine study mentioned above perpetuates the food industry's propaganda by saying that "people who ate whole-grain cereal each day had a 15 percent lower risk of insulin resistance syndrome." If you start your day the Kellogg way, you'll get what you deserve - obesity and diabetes. Cereal, muffins, and other standard breakfast offerings contain massive amounts of sugar - or pure carbohydrates that your body converts to sugar. Bombarding your system with these foods every morning will make your pancreas work overtime to produce insulin - and wearing out your pancreas will lead to diabetes. Calling it "insulin-resistant diabetes" or "adult onset diabetes" or "insulin resistance syndrome" distracts us from the simple truth: that the most common addiction in the world - and far more harmful than cocaine or heroin - is SUGAR ADDICTION. In the good old days prior to WW II, diabetes was called exactly what it was: "sugar diabetes." What you eat for breakfast shouldn't be any different than what you eat for the rest of the day. A high animal fat breakfast gets you off to a stable start, free of violent fluctuations in blood sugar. So... (1) Eat eggs, which can be prepared in a hundred different ways from raw, to poached, to juevos rancheros. (2) Pork (especially bacon), medium rare beef, and poached fish are all excellent sources of fat and protein that will keep you satisfied much longer than a donut. (3) Dairy products (including cheese) are good too - just make sure they're all unhomogenized. (4) If you need something sweet to go along with your protein- packed breakfast, have a piece of fresh whole fruit - not juice or canned fruit. (5) Wash it all down with a cup of black coffee and you'll be set to face the day." 7/22/04 The only thing missing here is the quality of the protein, naturally raised, range free, etc. Healthy regards, Larry Larry Clapp, PhD, JD www.prostate90.com -----Original Message-----

I don't remove the skins at all. They are ground up and become part of the pulp. You could peel them if you like, but I, personally feel that it's good to get the whole food, together, the way it was created. There are probably nutrients in the skin that go along with, compliment, or empower the nutrients in the nut. Nature put the skin on the nut so I just feel like it's probably best to consume natures combination. If you want to peel them I guess you'd have to just do it with your fingers, one by one. It really is yummy without peeling them though. Re: almonds

Almonds are sooo good for you. It's a good idea to soak them for 10 minutes or so in a solution of water and hydrogen peroxide. You'll see a frightening amount of action there. Anyway, this will take off any fungus lurking there. Then you can rinse and soak them. Overnight is sufficient to awaken the life force, increasing the nutritional value 100 fold. It's best to soak them in the fridge as they "turn" very quickly. After soaking they're ready for making milk, if you like. It's simple. Here's a basic recipe:

1 cup raw almonds 1 quart good water 1 tsp vanilla salt to taste ( important to add this for full bodied flavor) Sweetener to taste (I use raw honey. You can add just a tad, or more, for a sweet milk) Put the almonds in the blender with half the water. Strain through cloth (can be cotton or synthetic - even a new paint straining cloth) Put pulp back in blender with rest of water. Strain again. Rinse blender Put milk back in blender, add other ingredients and mix KEEP REFRIGERATED p.s. you can add more or less water, once you know what you're doing, for a thicker or thinner milk. This recipe is the average. p.p.s. The PTB say that a handful of nuts per week will increase your life span. You can add all kinds of yummies to this milk to make nog, soup, etc. It's fabulous on granola. Chloie Carolyn J. Shipment of Flax Oil
MsKatlee
< SNIP> what if it's left in a hot delivery van or post office for
three or four days, does any one know how long it can stay fresh under those conditions? I'm sure you will find your order of flax oil purchased through the mail/internet to be just fine and, if not, I'm sure the company you purchased from will replace any order not specific to your requirements. *From my research* for flax oil to become rancid it has to: 1. Reach a temp of over 400degrees 2. Have been opened and left to sit at room temperature 3. Have been opened and refrigerated and reached the expiration date 4 Reached the expiration date having been refrigerated or not, opened or not 5. Been frozen for longer than 1 yr (this is disputable, however, I would not extend the 1yr for freezing) The only exception with the expiration date is if the bottle has been frozen. Freezing will extend the expiration date. When freezing it is best to use as soon as possible once thawed. As, Wilhelm states here, always test your flax oil when opening it. This is just plain old good advice. I placed my order on June 23 with BioSan. It was on backorder from Barleans (which is in Seattle) as BioSan does not hold it in stock for the freshness factor. My bottle of flax oil (32oz) was shipped from BioSan on July 1 ...I received it 6 days later ( had a weekend in there too!). (BioSan I believe is in Arizona, I'm in Michigan ) It was fresher tasting than any Barleans I had bought locally. I opened a bottle the day I got it, froze the other. The first bottle I opened was just finished yesterday. Good to the last drop ! ;) Just spoke with two local health stores....their Barleans comes in a UPS or FED-EX truck- not refrigerated! If you ordered from the net you would be getting yours the same way. Think about it. And this...some of the oil I had gotten from a health store has been on the refrigerator shelf longer than what I had in the above mentioned shipment. This has been my experience from purchasing on the net or locally. To each their own. ~Katlee |

Re: stopping chemo
hello again Carolyne
Yes of course this is a flax seed and oil discussion group, but perhaps a few of us have chosen fo,cc instead of conventional therapies for health reasons, in my case it is my husbands breast cancer, We are at the early diagnoses stage and have had chemo and radio and hormone therapy 'thrown ' at us by his doctors, all they say is he must start straight away , so for me anyway any discussion of chemo is interesting so perhaps if we mentioned it in the subject line others wouldn't be annoyed buy opening mails that were slightly off topic but still relevant? Just an idea Rebecca |
lets get back to flaxseed oil......

Hello group members,
I want to get back to flaxseed oil information,,,,,I am not interested in reading about peoples religion, or petty squabbles. I am interested in reading emails about flaxseed oil, that is why I joined this group. If I want to read about religion there are hundreds of sites and chat rooms for that. Please, lets keep our exchanges civil and about flaxseed oil. Thanks |
