Re: OT--Hi-Glycemic Foods

From: "Paul Cates" <paerca@...>
Does it help to limit Hi Glycemic foods also.
Yes.
I know not sugar but
how about watermelon, potatoes, etc with a High Glycemic index?
Because of their high-glycemic index and other problems, I would
totally AVOID
parsnips, white/red potato (in particular), nonsprouted wheat,
couscous, and corn(meal).

Because of their high-glycemic index, I wouldn't eat LARGE amounts of
the
following foods on an empty stomach: dates, pumpkin, rutabaga,
watermelon,
millet, pineapple, cantaloupe, rice, muesli, canned apricots, mango
(Both the
above lists of foods are listed in order of glycemic index, starting
w/the
highest-glycemic.). However, I WOULD make it a point to eat dates (but
NOT on empty stomach), watermelon,
millet, cantaloupe, brown rice, and apricots, due to their
cancer-healing
properties. I wouldn't worry at all about the glycemic index of any
other
HEALTHY foods.

Are grapes (44 GI) too high?
certainly not

Thanks for your quick response.

I have read Roger Mason's book, "Natural Prostate Cure" (very good) but have not read "No More Horse Estrogen.". I have also read the work of Dr. John Lee and have researched high dose Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

From what you have written, I presume you are on natural Testosterone therpay and not on the mainline hormone blockage. Good for you!

When my husband was first diagnosed, I did not know about T therapy then or of a decotor who would prescribe it. We reluctantly agreed to go along with the traditional hormone blockage, first Casodex and then Lupron . This seemed to work for a while and my husband's PSA plummeted. He did not tolerate Casodex. It was affecting his liver and had to be discontinued. Lupron alone could not keep the PSA down. He was becoming refractory.

Through a cancer support group, we heard of a female oncologist who was open to alterntive treatments. We managed to get a consultation with her and she accepted my husband as her patient.. Her thinking was very much in line with the research I had been doing. We discussed T replacement and she was open to having my husband try it. He started transdermal T replacement last week. Hope this will work.

The oncologist warned us that there side effects. One of them is the initial rapid rising of the PSA. We just got the last PSA test result today. It has risen from 7.55 to 15.5 in one month! I don't think this is due to T therapy yet as it is too soon for the T to have kicked in. This is scary. We have been conditioned to believe that PSA test is the gold standard markers and reflects how one is doing. It does not seem to take into account how one is feeling.

At present, my husband has no physical symptoms. His energy is good. It is much better than mine. (I loose it through continuos worrying). He has been taking fo/cc for 9 months, eats a reasonable diet and takes many supplemenats. So something is still working.

There was another doctor who also challenged this widely-held position that melanoma is caused by the sun, but his funding was partially provided by the tanning bed industry. He, of course, got his head handed to him; in fact, he was fired from his position at the university where he taught. To me, it doesn't make sense that the sun causes melanoma because there's no way you can escape the sun and God made the sun.

Re: OT--Interesting data about sunshine

Group,
The importance of sunlight as vital for healing and maintenance of
health is well presented by Dr. Budwig in her book "Flax Oil As A
True Aid Against Arthritis, Heart Infraction, Cancer and Other
Diseases." The key is the kinds of fats you are eating. Live fats
such as flax oil vrs. dead fats such as hydrogenated oils, etc. If
you eat the right fats the sun in proper amounts is our friend, if
eating the wrong fats our enemy. The medical profession true to form
has it wrong.

When I started the Budwig Diet, I also started exercising. (UCLA did

run/walk and keep my heart rate between minimum [(220 - age) x .6] to
maximum [(220 - age) x .8] for up to 2 hours/day. This use to be
about 2.5 mph to reach minimum, now it is almost 4 mph. Whether it
was by the Budwig Diet or improving on exercise is anyone's guess.

All I know is now I have more energy.....I can even keep up with my

Re: OT--blood type & metabolic typing

From: "Boricua" <workboricua@...>
Please people tell me what you think???
I've read a lot about blood type diets, both pro and con. I'm
convinced there's SOME relation between blood type and diet, but not
nearly a strong a relationship as D'Adamo and others suggest. My
impression is that there's more validity/reliability to the AVOID
foods than to the recommended foods. Also, these diets are NOT exactly
what our ancestors ate.

O Types: Can eat meat, fish, most vegetables and most fruit.
So can people of all blood types, though some other blood types have
problems w/red meat (whichI think is best avoided by almost all cancer
patients).

They should avoid wheat. Starchy vegetables such as corn, dairy food
and oranges.
OFTEN (not always) true.

A Types: Can eat vegetables, tofu and soy products.
I don't think nonfermented soy's healthy for anyone, in general.

They should avoid meat.
Wrong, though ON AVERAGE they probably do best w/less than type Os.

Dairy food, most beans and legumes and wheat.
That's a huge overstatement, except perhaps the wheat.

B Types: Can eat red meat, seafood, grains, beans, most legumes,
most vegetables and most fruit.
So can most people of all blood types

They should avoid chicken, starchy vegetables like corn, lentils,
peanuts, sesame products and wheat.
TENDS to be accurate, particularly true for corn and wheat. I don't
recommend peanuts for anyone.

I was told by a knowledgeable practitioner that these are the biggest
problem foods:
Blood Type O's should beware of grains (especially nonsprouted wheat &
gluten [rye & oats]), corn, cauliflower, kidney & navy beans,
white/red potatoes, peanuts, oranges, & dairy
Type A's should beware of red meat, pork, wheat, banana, oranges,
mango, tomato, & papaya.
Type B's should beware of pork, chicken, tomato, peanuts, shellfish,
corn, olives, wheat, sunflower & sesame seeds.

But there are many exceptions to all the above.

There are many more factors that deterimne the optimal diet for an
individual that are more dominant than blood type.

For more info or to assess your metabolic type (reassess it every few
months), see www.drkelley.com/CANLIVER55.html

Note: As of 9/03, Dr. Kelley reportedly uses a "Type 4" (moderately
sympathetic-dominant-based [mostly vegetarian]) diet w/all cancer
patients even parasympathetics as long as they have [significant]
cancer/tumor. Parasympathetics are allowed some fish, organic eggs and
goat yogurt).

battling a disease or do you take flaxseed oil as a preventive
measure? Personally, I'm convinced of the efficacy of Essential
Fatty Acids to protect us from a variety of ailments and I use it
for
that purpose (in my case, mild arthritis).

The reason I ask is this: I participate on a discussion board where
melanoma patients of every "stage" post their treatments--the vast
majority of which involve conventional medicine (radiation, drugs
and
surgery). I mentioned that I had read quite a bit about Johanna
Budwig's alleged cure for a variety of ailments, including cancer.
Since the "treatment" is innocuous and involves a nutrient (EFA) we
need anyway, why not incorporate the Budwig Diet with the view
that "it can't hurt and might help, so why not?"

Well, you'd have thought I asked them to dance naked in Times Square
as part of their treatment. On a conventional discussion board,
you're practically drawn and quartered for endorsing (or even
suggesting) anything other than pharmaceuticals, surgery or
radiation, it appears, but that particular board is dedicated to
melanoma (my particular focus), so I continue to visit and post.
Now
I'm wondering, however, how many Budwig success stories of cures for
actual diseases do we have among the 600+ members of this board?

Any feedback? Thanks.
