Dear Liz,
When one has cancer he has already faced a major change in his life style. Having three, four rounds of chemo is one change, surgery is a change too. One can not do his normal routine things as he was doing - change.
And if someone chooses the alternative way he has to do some changes, but willingly, knowing this changes can make his life better, less suffer.
I got cancer - lost job. I chose alternative - lost doctor. And I was not ready for more major changes. I started only with raw food, because I never cooked and it was the easiest way for me - lazy and depressed. Luckily, Budwig diet includes raw food, so when I discovered her work and this group I included FO/CC. After two weeks I found out about ground flax seeds. After some time I found out about the importance of the sun. Three weeks ago I got J.B. books. One week ago I had CT and two horrible spots on my right lung disappeared. I know it is not over, but it gives me optimism. And I am not depressed anymore.
So, your friend does not have to do these major changes all at once. He can start with FO/CC+ground flax seed. I know it is much easier to eat already prepared food. Every time I see someone eating "normally" I feel "hungry". I still remember the taste, but I am not really hungry. Preparing raw food dishes is not real cooking - at least not for me. And it is not so expensive, OK, compared with gift it is; but if it is a matter of health/life, little expenses are not much. I believe that the church would give to your friends raw food as well, if the situation would be explained.
Suzana
