You are absolutely correct on your assessment, Cliff. There are a few items i would like to add...I feel that Flax oil may oftentimes not be prepared correctly at the manufactring level or it may go rancid due to poor conditions in shipping or in storage. Light and heat also are detrimental to its freshness and goodness. I have tried many oils and at this time gravitate towards Barleans because of their freshness policy. I also found a very good Austrian one here in Taiwan and buy it when I can because it is very tastey. Some New Zealand and Australian ones are also available here, but they contain 'high lignans" and cost considerably more. I like to get. my high lignans for freshly ground up Flaxseeds which I add to my Dr. Budwig combination. Having said this, it goes without saying that fresh flaxseed oil is best and , IMHO,what only should be used in the Dr. Budwig combination of Flaxseed oil and organic low fat quark [or low fat cottage cheese or low fat yoghurt, etc.]. A word about using Flaxseed oil alone: I know that Dr. Budwig has warned us about using Flaxseed Oil alone because as you should aptly put it " it can have the opposite effect," and I recall that Dr. Roehm put it in his paper on Flaxseed Oil. However, I believe this is for the very ill people who are trying to recover their health.( against tumors?). Dr. Budwig does advocate using about 2-3 tablespoons of FlaxOil on salads, some examples, #61, #64 or even a cup #65. (See her "Oil-Protein Diet Cookbook." [ This should spark some discussion on this subject.]. However, when Flaxseed oil is combined with sulferated dairy protein, it makes the unsaturated fat in the Flaxseed oil ""water soluble". This makes it possible for the Omega 3 to enter the bloodstream directly and give the body what is sorrily missing due to the "inertfoods" which we are eating. It is here where the difference is about using an oil on its own or combined with the sulferated protein of the dairy product for maximum benefit to health. I repeat again that I only use flaxseed oil combined with low fat organic yoghurt or low fat cottage cheese, which I try to make or when possible buy in a health food store. Then I always add some Food Grade 3 % H2O2 to the dairy when I open up the bottle. This is to kill some bad bacteria and also to extend the life of the dairy product in the refrigerator. Today, I prepared the Dr. Budwig combination. My homemade Low fat cottage cheese/yoghurt had a very sour, sharp taste. I added some colloidal silver ( about 30 mls) and the sharpness and sour taste disappeared. I experiment whenever I can to rid the dairy of bad bacteria with either the H2O2 or the Colloidal Silver. Lastly, let me say that the Coconut list is a good list and I love Coconut Oil [and even Palm Oil which they do not sell.] They do however sell coconut oil and sometimes I feel that they are a bit over exuberant in their message. Their experts do not see eye to eye with Dr. Budwig but this is somewhat to be expected from people who have done their own research and believe they are absolutely correct and do not want other opinions. (This BTW is my own opinion and I may be wrong in my assessment!). I feel also that we are, in a way, a "sister list" to the coconut list and that coconut oil is extremely good for many maladies and self-remedies. It does not have Omega 3 ( at least not in any noticeable quantities, I believe). But they don`t seem to acknowledge that the Dr. Budwig protocol is extremely healthy for serious illnesses and for health maintenance. It`s one thing to have a product in which to cook, use as an antiseptic cleaner, and to give some lauric acid/ vitamins to the body, and it`s quite another thing to supply the body with the Essential fatty Acid (Omega 3) in order to regain health or to maintain it. I see the two oils as two completely different products with different benefits, but compatble , again IMHO. Dr. Budwig has a long proven track record and that should be respected. Some people are on our list are also on the coconut list and can give a lot more input than I am doing. Again, I may be wrong and am willing to stand corrected. I too am a subscriber to the coconut list but must say that I don`t often read the messages unless I recognize one of the Flaxseed people or some subject of great interest, only because of very limited time at this time. If people want to downplay Flaxseed Oil , they should first do their homework thoroughly and well, and examine all the good the Dr. Budwig Combination and her complete protocol do for people. This protocol also includes coconut oil in the Oleolox, which is combined with Flaxseed oil! ( see "The Oil-Protein Diet Cookbook"). It doesn`t have to be one or the other...Dr. Budwig long ago recognized the great worth of coconut fat (oil)... Thanks for bearing with me on these topics but they are on my mind often and we have to understand them them well if we want better health. I hope I am not repeating myself too much or using the words of others but these are my true feelings. We can learn from everyone and should. Thanks and best, Ciao for now, Mike Cinelli ============================================================================ ==== ----- Original Message -----
