His criticisms seem to be those of an artist and I love the "God help us if there's a war" initial reaction to the Smiths - spot on. I was and am now much happier when Morrissey is hated by the media establishment. It was horrible in the 2000s when everyone on telly was a Smiths fan, telling us how much better his shite middle aged albums were. I'm glad they never quite reduced MES to a national treasure, though they wanted to, but I am bitterly sorry he died when he did. - Amy Winehouse, sober and in GREAT form, in 2007, right as "Back to Black" was starting to gain traction ?or -Arcade Fire, Fiery Furnaces, and the Unicorns on the same bill in 2003, when Arcade Fire was still being marketed as a local Houston band

the film festival. Walking into town, there was a cheap looking stage set up on the promenade,
with what I first took to be a Spice Girls imitation-type group, until I realised it was the actual
Spice Girls. So I saw them without trying, and without paying.
I'm trying to remember a support act who eventually became "big" but I don't think I saw
any worth mentioning, or if I did, I've forgotten.

Aren’t we though stve. I also recall seeing Rockpile supporting Van Morrison while at college. Rockpile blew the Man away. Not such a shocker, that.?
And file this one under “oil and water don’t mix”: a new band called Roxy Music, resplendent with a feather-boa’d Brian Eno, supporting the Allman Brothers. “Cultural clash” doesn’t really do it justice.?
