How does one control the cw speed in WinW with the pot on the microkeyer II?

Welcome!
I just saw the reviews on eHam.net, and had to try out DXLab.

that said to install module "X" or module "Y" first, so I just went
from left to right installing them.

You can install the applications in any order.
As I clicked on DXKeeper, it gave me the following message:
Setup cannot continue because some system files are out of date on your system. Click OK if you would like setup to update these files for you now. You will need to restart Windows before you can run setup again. Click cancel to exit setup without updating system files.

So, I figured, why not go ahead and update the outdated system files?
It couldn't hurt, right? So clicked OK and let it proceed. It was almost instantaneous! Then it wanted to reboot my PC. OK, I clicked. Go ahead, and reboot so I can finish the install.

Well, four reboots later, and it keeps going through the same loop. It
doesn't seem to really be doing anything other than rebooting my PC.

Is there some step I'm missing?

This is an unfortunate defect in the Microsoft installer that afflicts a small percentage of PCs. The easiest workaround it to boot Windows into "Safe Mode with Networking", and then install DXKeeper.
If you have questions about this procedure, or if this procedure doesn't get you going, please let me know.

All other modules installed just fine, and I was up and running my rig
with the Commander in no time flat. Is there a bug in the DXKeeper
install routine?

Re: PropView & Vista 64

Users have been successfully running Commander on 64-bit Windows for years, so if you're seeing a "compatibility issue" with a mouse control, the problem is likely specific to your system.

Please send the errorlog.txt file from your Commander folder to me at aa6yq@... so I can see what's going on.

Re: broke freq

My bad.

Apparently I deleted the rx frequency instead of the tx frequency which created the discrepancy with the rx band field in the Aux panel. I just tried again and made sure to delete the tx frequency, and it worked as expected. Sorry for the false alarm.

No need for that. It runs fine on 64 bit but your worry will be your
hardware, especially the Serial or USB=Serial. Thos are the things that will
cause more trouble than the move from Xp-Vista did.

I installed and ran on 64 bit W& with no problems other than the USB-Serial
converter. Arrggghhhh.

That doesn't happen here with DXK 8.1.6.

While experimenting with that I did notice something strange though. If
I delete a frequency and save the record everything is fine. But, when I
put the frequency back in and try to save the recored, the Auxiliary
panel opens with the band field flashing red and I have to re-select
band in the auxiliary panel. The band field in the main QSO panel

Re: Problems with eQSL-database downloads

The errorlog you sent me via email showed a database failure while you were synchronizing with LotW. Now you're reporting that two different applications -- SpotCollector and DXKeeper -- claim your eQSL.mdb file is unrecognizable as a database, even after you've replaced it with a fresh copy.

The evidence is circumstantial to be sure, but its sounds like the MicroSoft Jet database engine isn't happy running on your Mac Mini.

If you're not using eQSL, then simply delete the eQSL.mdb file in DXView's Databases folder -- but I'd make frequent log backups until you're sure this system is stable.

There is an old DOS program called "The Code Machine". I have used a dozen or more programs over the years, in teaching Scouts the code. I handed out a copy of that , to each boy to practice with at home. It has been several yiears now, since I taught code classes, and have no idea what I did with my floppy it was on, but I suggest you search for that one and look at it. It is simple, yet does everything needed, from being able to key it from the keyboard, or let it automatically select code groups to send. Use it with just a few letters, or the entire needed letters/numbers/etc.
