Spot Collector Question

Steve

Hello to the group,

I've noticed when you have a callsign spotted more then once in the window, it's only shown with the latest spot. Is there a way to have this callsign shown with all of it's individual generated spots?

Tks in advance,
Steve K2FW

SpotSpy 1.3.1 is available

supernova12de

This release

- correctly handles alerts for JT6M spots (tnx to Aart, PA3C)

- prevents multiple entries of alerts in SpotSpy's alert window (tnx to Aart, PA3C)

- corrects some defects in SpotSpy's 425dxn and DailyDX calendar import feature

- provides a new button 'replace /p with *' to replace /p and /P with the wildcard * in listed calls (DX calendar import)

- Right-clicking on a displayed spot in SpotSpy's alert window will removed the selected call sign from Needed call signs list (if band and mode matches), (request FS#12, tnx to Jose, N1BAA)

- provides the new checkbox 'Clear SpotSpy's blacklist every x hours' (configuration window, General tab)

- updates SpotSpy's online help

SpotSpy 1.3.1 is available via SpotSpy's update feature. For more

ahhh yes then , my mistake, when someone talking about UN Im thinking United Nations, and couldnt figure why the problem, when the UN only has those two sites. I wish they would leave the prefixes alone. I figutred the UN had some troops over there or something. So many hot spots today, I simply cant keep up with who is doing what to whom.

Did you mis-read something Jerry wrote? The prefix for those stations you reference is 4U - the UN Jerry is referring to is the prefix for Kazakhstan. (I think it was something like UL7/UK7 when you and I were budding DXers!)

Jerry, please

1. verify that you have DXCC database 2.2.7 installed (Config window,
General tab, "Database Info" button at bottom); if not, direct DXView to
install it

2. on the Main window's "Check Progress" tab, click the Recompute button

If this doesn't eliminate the problem, please let me know...

I just worked UN7QF on 20M and had trouble getting the entry into

I get a red flashing DXCC... although the entry is UN, the code is 130,

The tooltip says I should make a correction to the prefix. Any ideas

Re: UN - Kazakhstan

I wanted to avoid deleting the QSO, but that was certainly one way out.

Several DXCC database versions ago, we changed a number of DXCC entity
prefixes in order to line up with those used by the ARRL. There was no
requirement that we do this, as the only thing that matters is the DXCC
entity codes, but many users found it confusing for DXLab applications to
use entity prefixes different than those used by the ARRL DXCC desk. So we
bit the bullet and made the changes. After updating to the updated DXCC
database, the change in entity prefixes meant that users must perform a
Recompute operation on their log file(s). Evidently, you hadn't done that,
which was why DXKeeper flagged your UN QSO as invalid.

Having DXKeeper determine that a new DXCC database has been installed and
that the new version requires a Recompute operation so that the user can be
informed is "on the list".

Hi, Dave.... I was fiddling before seeing your answer below, and decided to
try deleting the QSO from the log, then clearing the QUEUE, then re-entering
the QSO. That worked. (I had previously tried changing the entity, the
code, the prefix... and then changing it back. None of those allowed me to
clear the QUE, and DXCC on the log QSO's tab just kept on blinking red. ) I
did a Recompute and everything seems fine now... except for a gap in the Q#
sequence.... no big deal as far as I can see.

So now the problem seems solved for my log, but I can't say I learned why it
happened. One other thing..... UN7QF was red in SC, but I had UN Verified
on that band and mode. I got it into the Capture screen by clicking on the
SC entry.

You can create audio files by using the program "Just Learn Morse Code" . Once you record the audio files, you can copy them on a CD and pass them out. The program is free but you can make a contribution if you want. I would suggest starting at 20 wpm to avoid a learning block at the 13 wmp level. Good Luck!

Re: Inclusion of SAM database

Keep in mind that DXKeeper lets you use QRZ.com as a callbook, which is entirely free (though Pathfinder will display advertisements). QRZ.com is a worldwide callbook; its not limited to US and Canadian callsigns.

If you're concerned about the time delay of a lookup over the internet while you're working a pileup, you can instead use DXKeeper's "batch callbook update" option to perform the callbook lookups after an operating session is over. Just filter the Log Page Display to contain the QSOs you want updated (e.g. with a date range) and the depress the CTRL key while clicking the CBA button on the Main window's Log QSOs tab.

Wolf,

I'm not using BootCamp (I prefer having Windows and the Mac OS available at the same time), but I'm running Windows XP SP3 in Parallels under Mac OS X 10.6 (and up until last week was running under Mac OS X 10.5) and I'm not seeing any of the errors you're seeing. Both the LotW and the eQSL databases seem to be working just fine.

This is running on a MacBook Pro 2.8GHz laptop. It's not a mini, but there's really no hardware difference that counts. What version of Mac OS X are you running? Have all the Software Updates been done? Might as well make sure everything is up-to-date on the Mac side, first.

The errorlog you sent me via email showed a database failure while you were synchronizing with LotW. Now you're reporting that two different applications -- SpotCollector and DXKeeper -- claim your eQSL.mdb file is unrecognizable as a database, even after you've replaced it with a fresh copy.

The evidence is circumstantial to be sure, but its sounds like the MicroSoft Jet database engine isn't happy running on your Mac Mini.

If you're not using eQSL, then simply delete the eQSL.mdb file in DXView's Databases folder -- but I'd make frequent log backups until you're sure this system is stable.

tnx Dave for ultra quick answer!

I made a complete new install of XP3 and DXLabSuite on that (used but new) mac mini about 3 month ago. As far as I remember, the error came up just after I tried to get access to LoTW, which failed due to op error, forgot to migrate the right files .tq6 and .tq5. So it happened as is had to. No access to LoTW via DXKeeper. With kind help from Kathy, KA1RWY (LoTW Specialist) everything with LoTW works now as it is supposed to. That was an absolut priority issue for me.
As I never used eQSL so I didn't pay much attention about it.

That's all I know, sorry! If there's no chance to get rid of the glitch in an easy way: I really can live with it. Absolutely low priority.

Is this happening on the same PC where DXKeeper generated an errorlog
showing unexpected database failures when synchronizing with LotW or eQSL?

Subject: [dxlab] Problems with eQSL-database downloads

gm all,
since migrating dxlab to a new (old) PC (macmini running XP3 via bootcamp)
I'm stuck with loading new eQSL-databases.
It's only a minor glitch as I don't use eQSLing so far ... but it's annoying
to find different pop-ups while I refresh my DXLab-Suite with the latest
databases telling me 'unknown data-format in eQSL.mdb'. That gives me an
increasing errorlog in DXKeeper and DXView as well.

A helping hand is very much appreciated!
