DM-32UV
Just wondering if anyone has seen any new firmware for this radio.
?
Recently received and its a good bit of kit (review on my ). One issue I have with it is low TX audio on DMR (gain is set to 5 which is the max) and wondered if a firmware update might help.
?
Currently running 01.1.040 - which i suspect might well be the latest.
?
If anyone knows or has any other ideas, would be appreciated!
?
I guess i have one additional query if anyone knows -?
?
What is the best way to allow scanning of Channels (analogue).?
?
The scan list only allows 16 entries so i have multiple scan lists.
?
I've created matching zones so everything is broken into groups of 16.
?
Is this the best way to do it?
?
For instance, the airband rx on this radio is superb and i have all the local airports and ATC stored but they're split into different zones and scanlists, which is a bit of a pain.
?
Thanks! |
Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese
The DM-1701 Radio Programming Software" Version 1.05 will not work with the baofeng DM32, that software is for the DM1701 only hence the reason you can only get the file .RDT instead of the .data one you need,? where are you getting the firmware version from? is it off the radio or through the CPS software? you may need to flash the firmware of the DM32 and see if you can get it back to what it should be, thats if the firmware on the radio is reporting the wrong firmware. I will put the firmware you need on this post, This is a link to install the firmware watch and follow this video, then to install the channels just follow what i sent to you earlier with the code plug |
Re: UV-32 And Any Interesting "Programing" Entry Items? Latest Info
Hello Fellow UV-32 "Owners" I was informed that the UV-32 is in reality a attempt by Baofeng to "RE-CASE a UV-25-UV25-Plus in a NEW Looking Format and "Save a Few $$ and that the APRS Feature Is in a Menu in the the so called UV-32 that have been "upgraded to UV25M. Any One OUT in The Internet "Wild" Know And Or Has The "Firmware" of the UV-25 Plus/M AR-152 ??? Best Regards Steve AB2ET/4 See the Website: ?? ? |
Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese
I was using the Baofeng CPS, but none of the file folders in the instructions mentioned in the program instructions were there, so I thought I had different firmware than Baofeng CPS wanted to have. So I tried to flash the firmware using the instructions to press two keys - from memory the green Menu key and one of the keys near the PTT key. (I just tried several combinations from this memory but none worked, so my memory is probably defective.) figured I could install the RT Systems software as I wanted to stay away from GD77 firmware and stick with the Baofeng firmware.? The RT Systems software didn't work either.? I un-installed both the Baofeng CPS and the RT Systems software. Now it says under "About" that I'm running "DM-1701 Radio Programming Software" Version 1.05 Copyright Baofeng Electronics Co.? LTD The DM-1701 radio itself reports firmware V002.006 and CP Ver 01.10. Any suggestions? 73 David N1EA? On Sun, Apr 6, 2025, 3:53?PM colin Grocutt via <colingrocutt=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese
From reading your post again, I think you are using the RT system program, that is probably why you cannot load the .data file into it as that may have a different file extension, I don't know if this is the case as i dont have the RT system program for this radio, I will attach the Baofeng version of the software to this post, install that and then give it a try with the .data file I uploaded. |
Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese
Maybe when I attempted to install RT SYSTEMS version of the software, it gave me new firmware. This radio is inexpensive enough, I can buy a new one if need be. This is like putting a baby back together after it's been put in a blender to abort it. Sorry about the disgusting reference but it seems apt. 73 On Sun, Apr 6, 2025, 3:41?PM D.J.J. Meaning the file you want me to use ends with *.data.? I cannot select that file.? The whole thing is a nightmare.? 73 David N1EA? On Sun, Apr 6, 2025, 3:38?PM D.J.J. Ring, Jr. <n1ea@...> wrote:

Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese
When I try what you say, the file window restricts files to *.rdt. The file that is there ends with *.data. So I cannot open the file. I bought an installer for the original software from RT SYSTEMS but I've un-installed that.? 73 David N1EA? On Sun, Apr 6, 2025, 3:33?AM colin Grocutt via <colingrocutt=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: UV-32 And Any Interesting "Programing" Entry Items?
Donald, Yes The "Legacy" UV-5 Radios Could Do 220 but at only about 1 Watt, but that is not the main Point as Hams, Its Exploring The Hardware Circuitry and even the Firmware, yes way back then the RU Boys did a interesting Dump of the UV-5's Firmware which was extremely Informative as to how the Hardware was Operating, unfortunately it was in Russian, no problem for me as it explained the whole concept of the "CHIP".
The Interest in the New Super Cute Looking UV-32 is that it was listed as a "TRI" Band Radio and the radios still come with the Firmware Ver 0.29 Hardware Ver 1.00 AND I Was Abel to Get Them for $25 Each Delivered, Yes The Radio The Battery, Charger,Antenna, GPS and Bluetooth for $25 each. An easy low cost to my "Collection" since the (DMR Radio) "Sister" DM-32 is still in the $60-50 range.
What are Your Thoth's about the UV-32 "Bargain"?
Best Regards. Steve AB2ET/4

Baofeng 1701 charger
Here is a mod for the desk charger supplied. It uses the TP5100 lithium battery charger module. ?I sliced off the portion of the original pcb leaving the input socket and battery connectors on the board held by 2 of the original screws. ?I removed 2 electrolytic capacitors and 2 surface mounted resistors and cut the track as shown in the photos. ?One of the surface mounted resistors is removed from the TP5100 and the SET is bridged with solder?to give 8.4 V output. ?Placing the TP5100 as shown allows the blue and red light (full charge and charging) to be seen through the original window. Charging time reduced and takes any input from 10 to 18 V dc . |
Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese
I don't know why you are getting an unknown file type, what you need to do is unzip the DM32 data file out of the zip, For ease just unzip it to your desktop, now run the DM32 programming software, at the top left of the software you will see a folder icon, click this and a small window will open, navigate to where the data file is on your desktop, once at your desktop click the file, then click ok on the small window that just opened, the codeplug is now in the software, you can alter the channels and settings to your own preferences, once you have completed your alterations, click file in the top left, come down to "save as" now click this, another window will open, give your saving codeplug a name, then click save, that is now your own codeplug with your channels in, you can now write the code plug to the radio. Apologies if i'm sounding like i'm teaching folks to suck eggs, :)? |
Re: UV-32 And Any Interesting "Programing" Entry Items?
I have one also from that era. Aside from allowing transmit outside the ham
bands, what does it have to offer over the newer, compliant ones? Can it do 220 MHz? Anything it can do outside our bands would probably benefit from a low pass filter.
