Re: UV-3R battery

Since he appears to be somewhere in Europe (Italy?), there may be a different
company over there that rebuilds battery packs.

I'd search for these words:

rebuild battery pack

and see what results come in. Maybe add the make and model to the search.

thanks guys for you answers!
I will carefully check all links as it seems that a new battery costs more that what I spent 5 years ago for the radio! :-))

Re: UV-3R battery

That's a great price, especially with shipping included.

It will probably be new, old stock.

You may need to rebuild the pack yourself or send it out to have it rebuilt for
you. I don't know offhand a particular place but you can ask in the
amateur-repairs group since this sort of thing has come up in the past.

Baeofeng on APRS

KK4IXE, I have been using voice for over a decade. Recently found an interest in using APRS and hope to use it over my Baeofeng coupled to my iPhone. I intend to receive weather and emergency updates and communicate over SMS to my wife while doing fieldwork in wooded areas. Can anyone offer guidance here??

Respectfully
Terry

Thanks for letting me know.
Went into my profile and took care of it.

That's a good price for an entry-level HT radio.

I have one and like it. It's not built as well as my Anytone HT, and doesn't
have as much power output, but you can't beat the price.

Legal Baofeng (in case you were interested)

A version of the UV-5R called the GT-5R has come out on Amazon that apparently is made with a bit more QC. Identical looks. It is touted that it is "legal" and won't bleed into the rest of the RF environment. Costs about $30.

I've done that on the theory that the NVNA approximated the size and ground plane of a Baofeng HT. I was able to determine that the cheap tri-band whip sold by one of the recent names in the business is really only a dual band. the vendor has no clue what in the world I was talking about when I asked for test data. They couldn't put me in touch with anyone that wasn't reading talking points off a screen. I got a refund. Thanks, NanoVNA!

Most the chinese DMR radios, their software all looks the same. The principles are the same. If you look at a video on programming for another model or even another brand and it looks the same as your software it will work.

Would anyone have any experience with this HT using it on DMR Repeaters?

A friend picked one up and was asking me if could be programmed to work on DMR Repeaters.
I can't find much on this HT.? I could use a sample Codeplug configured for any Repeater.
That would tell me what I need to know to help program the local Repeaters .

Thanks,
Ken

Is possible your version of CHIRP might be different and have those fields
in a different tab, so look around in Chirp if that is the case.

Don't forget to follow proper procedures to upload the file from the radio
first, make your changes, then download back to the radio.
Everything is in the same place. MR A channel is set to 1, MR B channel is set to 4. On start up the radio usually goes to 0, but sometimes some other channel but B goes to 4.
