Re: OV-S9X3
I have had multiple issues using Chirp.? Spend a few bucks and go with RT Systems, especially if you are programming "a bunch" of them.? I've never had an issue one with RT Systems and have used them on Baofeng; several models, Kenwood, Vertex, and Yaesu; again, several models.

Our club has bulk purchased a bunch of Baofeng UV-S9X3 to sell or give away to new hams. The UV-S9X3 is a tri-band radio that makes a great introductory radio. The issue is with a few of the radios, they will not transmit on 220. Utilizing Chirp they program just fine, but will not transmit on 220, while the rest of the bunch do program and transmit on 220.? Any help in solving this issue would be greatly appreciated. Rich, KR4PI |
Tone squelch does not work on my BF-F8HP
Has anyone else tried to use a CTCSS receive tone on their BF-F8HP?? If I have a transmit CTCSS tone configured, I cannot make a receive tone "stick".? That is, when I exit the menu, the setting reverts to "off".? And if I try to set it to TSQL in Chirp (CTCSS xmit and rcv), the setting will get copied to the radio, but I can never hear anyone who transmits a CTCSS tone.? Also cannot hear repeaters that transmit a tone.

Re: Image Files for UV9R Pro vice CSV for UV5R, BFF8?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Hi Donald;
Thanks!
I finally solved the programming issue this morning.
Stopped trying to use CHIRP-Next and used CHIRP-Legacy.? ?
Now no problem programming/reprogramming my UV-9R PROs HTs with CHIRP.
Maybe my Operator Error, maybe the BETA of CHIRPNext isn't new BaoFeng friendly by that file type, I'm not sure the actual issue.
BUT, I got it to work successfully and reprogrammed my 2 new BaoFeng HTs same as my old 2 BaoFeng HTs.
Gotta luv software issues.? ?NOT.
Thanks,
73,
Ed/KC3NAF

The software from RT is a bit more polished than CHIRP. I can't say it's better,
but they do tweak it to work on more radios. I think their way of getting repeaters near you to fill up your memories is better than the other way, but neither takes into consideration that many repeaters are just "paper repeaters" that have the repeater coordinator's OK to use the frequency but it's not online or never was. Re: Image Files for UV9R Pro vice CSV for UV5R, BFF8?
Tony Ross nailed it. ?This is the way to do it in Chirp.
I was able to take the config file from my Baofeng BF-F8HP with 78 repeaters and a few PL¡¯d simplex channels and copy it onto my Icom 2730 without any problems. ?Saved me hours of manually programming the Icom from scratch. |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Tony;Thanks for the feedback!
So I initially did what you say, download the new radio image file, copy my existing frequency list CSV file into the radio image file and save with a new name. ?Didn¡¯t work.
Obviously I¡¯m doing something wrong (operator error) and will try again tomorrow! (Work day today).
Thanks again!

In one tab, load the image file, in the 2nd tab, open the csv file. Then select everything in the csv file tab and paste it into the image tab, then upload the new image tab to the radio. Be sure to save the amended image to a local file so that you can modify it and upload later. The beauty of chirp is of course its price, and the vast variety of radios supported. It's worth making a donation to them. |

Chirp sucks big bilge water.? I always use RT Systems.? NEVER have had an issue with any of their programming software.

All programmed, nowhere to go!
All programmed manually, receives voice and repeater id, signal appears on TinySA on or near correct freq (same as old icom ht) but no audio to repeater or it fails to key repeater.
Just finished test with all band receiver and both icom and UV-5R are exactly on freq with same audio so I conclude the Bearfang is not sending the CTCSS tone. Any suggestions? 73 Karl KI4ZUQ |
