Re: UV-82 Malware

Am I correct in saying that the baofeng data comm interface is basically an analog audio modem connected thru the audio/mic jacks?

I ran a scan of the small CD and found nothing.
I didn't use the CD for anything.

I purchased one of those $8 programming cables
on eBay, It didn't work with any driver and any
software even the driver and software on the small CD.

I purchased 2 programming cables on Amazon, one
for my UV3R, UV5R/UV5R+ and one for my UV9R+. I
downloaded and installed the Prolific drives then
installed CHIRP. The cable worked without fail.

I loaded the Prolific drivers then ran CHIRP.

Anyway, somewhere in all of this some malware got into the system.
When the battery is getting low, the UV 82 every 28 seconds says "mobile tits", blanking out any audio signal the radio is receiving.
I can stop this by turning of the voice, but I really would like to have the voice prompts active.

Any body have any ideas on how to fix this?
This isn't a fix, but if there's an extended run battery pack
available for your radio, it will give you more run time and maybe
you'll never run it down so much that you'll hear that.

I would also contact Baofeng and ask them about it.
