UV-82 Malware

I am using a Dell laptop with WIN XP.

I bought a programming cable from a dealer at the hamfest in Seveireville, TN.

It was labeled "Baofeng" on a black plastic insert in a metal clip on the top of the USB plug.
The small CD accompanying it was broken.
I tried to use Chirp, and already installed drivers, but they did not work.

I downloaded the Driver, and software that the Miklor site reccommends.
I tried to use it, but I just kept getting error messages.

I then tried a programming cable that I got from R&L several years ago to program a Wouxun KG-UVD1P.
It worked the first time.
Obviously, the problem was tha cable,I acquired in TN, not the Miklor drivers.
I think the cable is a counterfeit, that is not FTDI compliant.
I dont't know for sure, nothing I did would identify it.

Anyway, somewhere in all of this some malware got into the system.
When the battery is getting low, the UV 82 every 28 seconds says "mobile tits", blanking out any audio signal the radio is receiving.
I can stop this by turning of the voice, but I really would like to have the voice prompts active.

Any body have any ideas on how to fix this?
