Open Call for Berkeley Civic Center Art Exhibition
BERKELEY CIVIC ARTS PROGRAM OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS
?
The Civic Center Art Exhibition celebrates the abundance of artistic production within the Berkeley community. This annual exhibition is produced through a collaboration between Kala Art Institute, the Civic Arts Commission and the Civic
Arts Program. Artists will be selected by a jury to exhibit their artwork in the Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Building at 2180 Milvia Street for approximately one year, through February of 2020. The artwork will be installed on all six floors of the
building including the Mayor and City Council wing on the fifth floor.

Media: All 2-D media and 3-D media in compliance with size, presentation and weight restrictions described in this document.
Eligibility: Open to all artists living and/or working in the City of Berkeley. THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE TO PARTICIPATE!
Application Deadline: Monday, January 14, 2019 by 5:00 pm.

Description
Local author Mara Melandry will speak about her book, "Our Paradise: Berkeley's Fabulous Family Camps" at the Berkeley Historical society, followed by light refreshments and a book signing. Melandry is a member of the Berkeley Historical Society and a long-time Berkeley resident and Cal graduate. She researched the history of Berkeley¡¯s beloved family camps ¨C Tuolumne, Echo Lake and Cazadero ¨C from their beginnings in the 1920s to today.
The book chronicles why city leaders first established the camps, unearths remarkable and entertaining stories from throughout the camps' decades, and describes their wonderful and wacky traditions. The camps' histories are set against the historical context of the Great Depression, World War II, and the tumultuous 1960s.

Berkeley Public Library: You are invited to ¡°Interfaith Art Collaborations: Seeking Peace and Dialogue¡±; Artists' Talk is on Sunday, November 18, 2 pm
Please come see our latest exhibit, an inspiring and thought-provoking display of collaborative artwork created together by Jewish, Muslim, and Christian artists to express their commitment to peace and dialogue between people of different faiths.?
The work of 19 artists in a wide variety of mediums, including mosaic glass, quilted fabric, weaving, ceramics, and photography is displayed. This artwork is a selection from the interfaith art exhibition ¡°Collaborations and Connections¡± held December 2017 through February 2018 at the Islamic Cultural Center of Northern California.

Running weekends January 4 through 26, 2019 Live Oak Theatre, , We've recently lost our stage manager for our upcoming production of Thornton Wilder's Pultizer-prize winning play "The Skin of Our Teeth".? This?is a great way to involved with theatre - we will train.? If you or?someone you know is interested, please get in touch with us by writing?auditions@... Rehearsals begin the week of November 11th, with tech beginning December?26th. Rehearsals are mostly at The Old Finnish Hall, 1819 10th Street in Berkeley, with some rehearsals at Temple Beth Hillel in Richmond. We open January 4th at Live Oak Theatre in Berkeley. Performances?Fri-Sat at 8 p.m. until January 26th, with 2 p.m. matinees?on January 13th and 20th. Large cast with many fun folks involved! Small stipend available.
