I don¡¯t know when this will reach the group, because Xfinity internet connection, WiFi and cellular data is out in my area. Funny cellular voice and some text are working.
I was hoping our communication expert, Dave S, ham operator and yachtsman, will answer this.
The Xfinity co-axial internet connection is down in my zip code. The gateway can¡¯t finish booting since, there is no handshake with their server, so no local WiFi. I also have Xfinity Mobile, or a virtual mobile network provider on the Verizon cellular network, the owner and operators of the physical towers. Cellular data is down, but voice is working. Some texts get thru, but apparently not all or iMessages.
My question why is the cellular data down, but some texts get thru. Why is the cellular data down at all, or is there more going thru Xfinity before it gets to Vz, than I am aware of. I would have assumed( as bad as that is to do) that texts needed some internet connection, or because it rides with the signal to locate the phones and towers, does it manage to get around that?
Does this mean that the Xfinity server is down, and maybe the some of the Vz server, too?
When I got Xfinity on the phone, of course I could not get a human at O2:30 hrs local. The automated voice sent me a text with two worthless urls, I can¡¯t reach the internet, and said the estimated time of repair would be a helpful (sarcasm) ¡°As soon as possible.¡±.
