Off grid works pretty well most of teh time , except for with the
constant cloud cover like we have had in Northern Ca so far this
year .? My other issue is I trusted the guy that I bought my
system from too much & he under designed the panel count . I'm
pretty sure that that may be one of the reasons that guy doesn't
work for that vendor anymore .I'll fix that this spring . I left
my 80 gallon 3 cylinder compressor in my old shop which is only 2
miles from the off grid . If I need air off grid I have a Honda
powered compressor that I fire up whenever needed . I'm at the end
of the road on 27 acres . If I see/find anyone walkin around I
politely tell them private property .

Are you milling that in a drill press? (from the pic it looks like a similar model to what I have)
If so, how you keep the vibrations from loosening the taper and dropping the chuck?

I never saw brass chain on bikes. I did see heavy industrial chain in brass.?
What about plastic chain ?
The cook wax chain I have purchased for earth moving equipment.? I did think on bike.?

I have a bud that had a import 8 speed bike . had a generator in
the front hub , transmission in the rear hub . They even put a
/some capacitors in the system to keep the tail lite lite in case
ya stopped the bike for a short period . That bike was much
smoother than I remember the Sturmey Archer 3 speeds from way
back. I have a vague memory of trying to take a part one of those
Sturmey 3 speed hubs & parts & loose ball bearings
shooting all over place? , needless to say that hub never shifted
gears again .

to Google.? I think Shimano make them as well.

I left the nice bike world just about the time that Shimano &
Suntour were starting to give Campagnolo a run . It was really
becoming a hassle arguing with store managers that the reason my
bike was on my shoulder is cause it was worth more than most cars
in his parking lot . Brass chains were big back then .

Hi Dave and thanks for the chart. If you check the drill sizes across the chart, you will find that it is even easier. For the 75% thread depth, just deduct the pitch from the overall diameter !!! Eg 1”x 8, tap is 7/8” ?????? M6 x,1 tap is 5 ???? ??3/8” x 16, tap is 5/16”???? etc. Works every time. ????????? Ellis ? ? ? Here chart I have used since 1970's?
Still hangs on the wall this a photo great help.?
I also have a drill chart upto 1 " with number,? letter , metric and fraction for 1970's. It great help but you can buy online and hang on wall.?

There were some vintage bikes made with shaft drives.? Quite collectable now.? I think just single speed for simplicity, but not sure.
There is at least one modern offering from a company called "Dynamic" that uses a multi-ratio wheel hub.
They do exist.? Just very uncommon, I think.
