Can you host a Ukrainian student Sept. 24-28?
Hi, We're hosting a Ukrainian student for a few days, who is coming to DC to advocate for aid to Ukraine. It would be difficult for us to host after Sept. 24, and I am hoping to find some kind person or family who would be willing to put him up from Tuesday the 24th to Saturday the 28th. Capitol Hill would be a good location for him. Please let me know if you can host him or have any other ideas. His introduction is below. Thank you! Katja David-Fox 236 10th From: Vladyslav Plyaka Sent: Saturday, September 7, 2024 12:58 AM Here is the short introduction statement about me: "Hello! My name is Vladyslav Plyaka, 19, and I am from Ukraine, Rivne. I am FLEX alumnus ¡®22-23, and I am a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, double majoring in journalism and political science. I love pets, playing guitar, piano, languages, photography, reading, project management, running, friends and family. I see my future career as an advocate for change, first in the field of journalism, as an investigative journalist, as a frontline journalist, and later as a high-ranking official in Ukraine. In D.C., I will be participating in an event called "Ukraine Action Summit, Fall 2024," where I will be attending several congressional meetings with the goal of advocating for further aid to Ukraine, and I will be working on a story for my university. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to stay with you!" I also attached a picture of me. I am very grateful for your help! Thank you! Have a wonderful weekend. Warmly, Vladyslav Plyaka

Does anyone recognize this car?
2
Hello, I'm passing this along on behalf of Miron: A black Subaru with an expired license tag has been parked in the same spot at 224 11th ST SE for approximately a month. Does anyone know the owner? I do not want to ask the police for information, as they may just issue a ticket. The car has a zone 6 permit, so it may belong to one of our neighbors. I just want to make sure he/she is alright. (Pictures are attached.) Thanks. Cordially, Miron Straf mstraf01@...

Alley updates
Hey Friends and Neighbors - Wanted to let you know I heard back from DC Water last week after their meeting. They are still formulating their plan for the sewer updates and are collaborating with Washington Gas who have permits for updates as well. Both our ANC rep Kasie Durksit and our rep Kimberly Kennedy from Councilman Allen¡¯s office have also contacted both agencies to alert them of the historic nature of the alley. As Corey and Kasie noted in an earlier email, both agencies are required to restore the alley to its original condition. I dug up some old letters from 2014 that several residents of the alley put together to request the historic restoration of the river rocks. I thought folks may be interested in what the alley looked like in the old days¡. when sidewalks were death traps, road signs a rarity and bike lanes a dream. And when our alley was a big water cess pool! Thank goodness those are bygone days! I have faith that the agencies will take care of River Rock Court - and I will keep checking in with the agencies and our neighborhood representatives to be sure they continue to advocate as well. Cheers! Martha Martha Stracener Dantzic Quicksilver Productions Foundation martha@... Washington, DC 20003 202.669.3818 cell

Dog Food to Give Away
Hi all, I unfortunately bought a 35lb bag of Purina Pro Plan Complete Essentials kibble before realizing that my dog is allergic. Would anyone on the block be interested in taking this for their dog? It's unopened and I only ordered it about a month ago. I also have some Honest Kitchen Bone Broth Pour Overs (beef stew) to give away. My dog is apparently pickier than my children and totally rejected it. Thanks! Shelby (239 11th)
