Antonia - Thanks for sharing where The Corner Store is!? Can't believe I overlooked that.

Check out what's going on at The Corner Store too - it's another wonderful spot to have on Capitol Hill.? I hear there's a great Cajun Band playing there next Monday night - with Cajun Hall of Famer Jesse Lege, Joel Savoy and The Cajun Country Revival :?

The Corner Store info is:?

Hey Friends and Neighbors -

We wanted to invite you all to join us this Thursday March 24th from 6 - 8pm at The Corner Store for a cocktail party to learn more about The Hill Center. The Hill Center is an incredibly exciting new community center slated to open this summer in the Old Naval Hospital, just a few blocks away at 9th and Pennsylvania Ave. You may've noticed the construction that's been going on there for the past several months. The historic restoration is an amazing process in itself as the building is an architectural treasure that has been allowed to deteriorate for far too long. But perhaps more important, The Hill Center will provide our neighborhood with another community meeting place that will offer something to residents of all ages and interests. In addition to a range of classes, exhibits, lectures, performances and social programs, the environmentally friendly campus will provide a unique venue for special events and conferences, a family friendly caf¨¦ in the old carriage house, as well as office space for local nonprofits.

The Capitol Hill Community Foundation gave vision to this project and has been working tirelessly for the past ten years to bring this wonderful resource to life. This is a $12 million project, and just over $10 million has been raised to date. Of this, $1.2 million has been quietly raised from members of our Hill community, which represents ?10% of the whole budget for the renovation and start-up of the Hill Center. ?The Hill Center needs to raise an additional $2 million and we are spreading the word wider, seeking support from many other members of the community. As a part of this effort, the Hill Center is holding a series of cocktail parties around the Hill to introduce the newly named Executive Director, Diana Ingraham and solicit the support of a broad cross-section of the Hill community.

We hope you'll join us Thursday evening at The Corner Store to learn more and consider ways that you may be able to contribute to this important campaign. And while we hope you will financially support the effort in whatever way you can, what is most important to us is that you come out and learn about the opportunities the Hill Center has to offer to our neighborhood.

Check out their website to learn more and see a great video about the vision for the Hill Center:

If you can join us Thursday, please RSVP to Ann Goodwin at or 202-546-8483.

Hope you all enjoyed this beautiful weekend in our lovely neighborhood. And we really hope to see all of you on Thursday evening.

Cheers!

Martha and David Dantzic
