¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDear Friends and Neighbors,? Martha and I wanted to invite you to an?open-house?relating to?Motts Market?which we are hosting at our house (213 11th?Street, SE)?this Sunday between 4 and 6 pm.?? The Save Motts Market group has been holding regular social and other community events including a monthly BYOB gathering at different people¡¯s homes.? This will be an opportunity to meet some of the community members who are involved in the effort as well as to learn a little about where things stand.?? This is intended as a social gathering and we welcome you whether or not you have any interest in making an invesment.? All you have to have to come is an interest in the project and a willingness to meet a few neighbors you don¡¯t already know. ? To give everyone a little bit of background as to where things stand.? We are moving forward with the work on the building.? We have completed demolition, have submitted an application for a building permit for the first phase of the project, and to date have raised a little more than $600,000 of the $800,000 we believe we will need to complete the renovation and get to breakeven. ??We have a financial model (with what I think are reasonable assumptions) that has us getting to a cash-flow positive enterprise in a few years and a board that was elected by the investors that is effectively and efficiently moving the project forward. ? The project has also been personally satisfying as there is a lot of neighborhood enthusiasm (the epicenter of which is in Walter Court).? It¡¯s been good meeting a bunch of talented and enthusiastic neighbors and we¡¯ve made a few new friends along the way.? We have also begun to talk to various area market operators and there is interest.? ? Some of you have said you are interested in hearing more about investing.? If you have interest please let me know and assuming we have a few people who want to hear the formal pitch,? including the progress we have made to date, the business model, and the terms of the investment whoever wants to hear it can join Mike Skinner who has been leading the effort and myself at around 5:30.? ? We are also accepting donations if you just want to give a few hundred dollars to the cause.? (We are raising money that way as well, but it is not deductible.)?
