Stolen from a blue USPS mailbox in the neighborhood. ? This has become a nationwide problem where the special key used to open the mailbox is stolen from a letter carrier and then they find all of the checks in the mail and alter the name the check was written to and cash it. ?In my case they also tried to create 2 additional fraudulent checks from the original but there wasn¡¯t enough in my account to cover. ?
I¡¯ve talked with the police, my bank, and the office of the postal inspector and this is happening more and more. ?There was an article in the Post about it last winter when it was happening in chevy chase.?
