Open House at NOAA in College Park, Md. on May 4
STEM education activities for kids; public, media invited
The NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction will host an on Saturday, May 4, at its College Park, Maryland, campus. Government scientists at this facility produce weather and marine forecasts, develop new weather and climate models, and create outlooks for the winter, spring and hurricane seasons as well as El Nino and La Nina predictions.
The public is invited to tour the facility and meet NOAA research scientists and meteorologists to explore how they forecast and monitor the weather across the country. Attendees can also meet a Hurricane Hunter pilot and enjoy interactive science and weather activities for kids. NOAA¡¯s 3D experience will bring global weather and climate systems to life, and weather balloon launches will take place throughout the day.
