More systamtic of the half arsed side saddled approach to this rebranding so far demonstrated by Stagecoach.
?
In one respect, if you are going for a unified rebranding then yes, you should repaint anything that you have decided that should be repainted into the new livery.
?
However, you should have changed the logos on all the buses, regardless of the livery.
?
The list of "expemptions" to the new livery grows by the day. Not only have they claimed that they are "simplyfying and strengthing the brand" by replacing one livery with three liveries . . . . there are numerous examples now where even this muddled approach won't be applied.
?
The promises to impove the digital offering (website, app etc . . . .) hasn't happened. Brian has constantly prattled on about the importance of a good website etc, but here we are, several years later and the other side of a corporate relauch and Stagecoach still have the worse website and app of any of the major bus companies in the UK.
?
The whole thing is just a complete mess and any self respecting marketing or brand specialist would be holding their head in their hands. Sadly, Stagecoach is falling further and further behind and this half arsed rebrand (created by someone who's same ideas were rejected by another group) sadly confirm this downward spiral.

You raise good points Paul.?
I didn't think time travel was possible but aparantly it is. When I looked at the Stagecoach corporate web site, I was instantly ported back to 1995!
The downward spiral also always appears to occur when a founder /Co founder of a business steps down. Its very rare things get better after that.?
Rebranding excersises are always quoted as costing millions, so as such couldn't they have skipped painting the older buses in the fleet? I appreciate things are done in a certain order but really, wouldn't a touch up have been better??
Maybe this is the enthusiast/photographer in me speaking too, but if the new livery, was just applied to brand new vehicles so the public know there is something different about it.... Beit WiFi, USB charging etc.?
Thanks for listening

Hi Chris
It's correct as far as I know.? I can't remember?the exact wording but local operating companies have been told that 'trusted and recognisable brands' (or words to that effect) can continue.? So, round this neck of the woods I'd class Pronto, InterConnect, the Seasiders and possibly the Humber Flyer and Humber FastCat under that banner.? Nationally there's others of course (Lakes, Cambridgeshire Busway being the obvious ones) and of course some where the livery is mandated as part of the contract (Chester Park & Ride for example).
Gold is a good question - is it a specific brand (not specific to a route, no in the sense that Pronto etc are route-specific) but is it a brand.... I'd say probably yes.
But as Paul has said all along, far from clear or concise!

And lets not get started on what is "long distance" and what is "local".
?
Add to that, the livery has changed, twice, since it was launched and is not being applied consistantly across all companies, so will look great when buses start moving around.
?
Pure amateur.

Whether we like the livery or not its here to stay. You would think that if some of the older "trusted and recognisable" brands would be applied in a variation of the new livery.?
The more you think of the new livery to worse the roll out really is!
