Good afternoon,

"27825/6/7/8 Rawmarsh to Barnsley"

Should this be 26025-8? 27826/7 are Bee Network buses.

Cheers,
Chris

Stagecoach new livery

Barnsley depots E400MMC 10661 (YX66 WDD) has been off the road for several weeks and in the paint booth whilst different livery applications for a new standard Stagecoach livery (to replace the current "overcomplicated" white/blue/green/orange scheme) were trailed on it.

It has re-entered service today in the new livery - overall (very) dark blue with the Stagecoach logo towards the rear and the blue/orange/green stripes on the front grille. If the last one was overcomplicated this one is very much undercomplicated, perhaps even baron, and hopefully will have some lettering applied to break up the overall dark blue.

E200MMC 26087 (YY16 YJS) has also received the new scheme and I believe is due to reenter service at Barnsley (ex Rawmarsh).

Watersons Coaches

R&S Waterson Ltd (trading as Watersons Coaches), owned by Scott Wooley who also owns Globe Holidays Ltd, has ceased trading today.

Watersons operated service 36 (Barnsley - South Elmsall) and 249 (Pontefract - South Elmsall) both of which will not operate after today (though no such cancellations have been lodged with VOSA).

Replacement services - operated by Globe ?- start tomorrow. The 36 is replaced by a re-routing and re-timetabling of existing Globe service 39 (Barnsley - South Elmsall - Pontefract), whilst a like for like replacement for the 249 is also provided by Globe albeit with a slightly revised timetable.

One wonders if the Traffic Commissioner will look in to this? One operator ceases with no notice period with another operator under the same common ownership stepping straight in to replace...?

Stagecoach Yorkshire 18/07

All being well the remaining Yutongs should finally enter service at Rawmarsh over the weekend now that the electrical works have been finally completed. Indeed, 73011 (YH24 MBY) has ventured out in service for the first time today.

Arriva Yorkshire new E400s

Gather a batch of 14x new ADL E400s are due at Belle Isle - presumably for Wakefield - Leeds services in the near future. Suggestion is they will release the Streetdecks to Castleford, in turn releasing E400s to the 'Woollen' side (Dewsbury or Heckmondwike) for services in to Leeds.

Indeed, all largely positive, with the exception of the Lane Top, Ecclesfield Village and Chapeltown areas of Sheffield who loose the 1a with no replacement (Lane Top and Chapeltown still have the Stagecoach 1, but this is essentially a halving in provision for those areas).

I'm sure a Rotherham/Crystal Peaks - Sheffield Parkway - City Centre - University - Walkley service looks good on paper and probably makes for good vehicle utilisation, but has delays written all over it. Can't imagine there's that much cross-city traffic so surely for reliability purposes separate the Sheffield - Walkley leg out in to a separate route?

Notable also how the new 55/55a seems to be largely a carbon copy of the TM Travel 30 service (Crystal Peaks - Woodhouse - Parkway - Sheffield) and the new 75a runs over the top of the (tendered) TM 32 service between Northern General - Firth Park - Parson Cross - Foxhill. Wonder why First are deciding to go after some parts of the TM network?

Re: Sheffield consultations

I'm not sure, the daytime 30 is commercial and no changes have been registered against it. In north Sheffield the 31/32 (which are impacted by the new First 75a) have only recently been re-awarded as far as I can recall, and I've not seen any invitations to Tender suggesting TM have either informed SYMCA they wish to terminate their contracts nor had them revoked.
