I didn't play Kiri many times, but I do know that I never beat him.
As already noted, Kiri opened his home to many ASLers.? And other games, as my first ever
game of Catan was at his place, probably after he sliced me up in record time in an ASL match.
If I may add a humorous story, I do recall that he used to fire up the grill for burgers and dogs
while hosting.? He did this even though he must not have been a big burger/dog fan himself.
How did I know he wasn't a burger/dog fan?? Because when I went to put ketchup on mine,
I noticed the ketchup was not a normal ketchup color; it was so old that it was even before
"best by" dates, old enough to change color.? Actually, I should rephrase, Kiri may have liked
to grill, he just didn't use ketchup on them.? And I declined the ketchup.? :-)
And well said, Vic, we should treasure anytime that we can play together.

Hello everyone, Vic from Dispatches and the western Mass chapter of New England ASL, I'm sorry to report that Joe Gochinski texted me and the Bunker Crew that Kiri Naiman, 67, had passed away this past Monday. Anyone who got to play with him in the 1990s and 2000s found a very tough opponent, he and Allen Loiselle knew the rulebook inside and out and were our in house rules experts. We had a great RB campaign with him and it was very sad that he let the dice get to him over time, he left ASL around 15 years ago but was still hosting gaming Saturdays a few years after he stopped playing ASL. He was a good friend who I had not seen in over a decade and just so sad to hear he is gone.?
Joe Gochinski is gettting info on if there will be a wake for anyone interested, I'll let Joe chime in when he gets any concrete info. I'm 70 now so this is quite sobering to me but I'm doing OK and hope to roll many dice in the coming years.?
I hope to see some of you out this way at some point, I'll be hosting a game day in Pittsfield sometime soon. I also plan to get out to Chuck Tewksbury's garage for gaming before Summer's heat. I hope to see you and we all need to treasure anytime we play together. Have a good Thursday, Vic.?
