Alternatively, I may need to replace it
with some sort of closed cell foam sheet. It would need to be
buoyant (obviously) and not absorb water, rigid enough to be
self-supporting, flexible enough to curve and flex with the
sail and durable enough to last another 20 years. Any
thoughts?
I've always found sleeping mats (Karrimat etc) get adapted to
this kind of use. Downside is the colour might show through the
sail. But otherwise tough, waterproof, cheap and readily
available.
