I agree. Not to rush Cecil, but I don't understand why this hasn't happened yet.

Perhaps the wrong question was asked. How many will move to a group if it is formed? If there were on the order of 100 votes to move, I suspect that is about how many will move. How many does that leave behind? Perhaps just those interested actively will move and it doesn't make much difference.?
I suspect the Yahoo groups will be around for a long time and the gloom and doom is unfounded. Yahoo was bought for the traffic and I bet they they generate a good bit of the total.

The transfer from yahoogroups to automatically transfers all current members from the old group to the new one. No one here now has to? re-subscribe to the new one.

Because not one of the moderators supports moving the group. I'm ready but most of the moderators are inactive, and the ones that are active oppose the move or are pathetic, they won't even respond to emails on the subject. The same thing happened when the group started getting a lot of SPAM, hardly anyone wanted to do a thing about it. On 7/24/2017 10:01 PM, Mike Waters mikewate@... [softrock40] wrote: I agree. I agree. The value of Yahoo to Verizon is content. There is no good business reason to kill off content. There is too much angst here for no good reason. I am a member of many Yahoo ham radio groups and this so called 'problem' does not appear anywhere else.?

Oh for crying out loud! I give up!!!
This is just discouraging. I guess the next step for me is to to forget this and unsubscribe from the groups. What a letdown!!

The same thing happened when the group started getting a lot of SPAM, hardly anyone wanted to do a thing about it. Cecil, That is unfair. The only communication on the subject has been on these open pages with all sorts of comments mixed in. What emails have you sent? All moderators are also designated owners, why have you not consulted them personally? You have just conducted a one-man campaign. Yes, I am one that does not think moving is necessary but will not oppose a democratic decision. If the poll is the right way to determine the opinion of the membership then consult the owners and we should agree to the move. Or, should dormant members have been told of the poll by a special email? Your comment about spam is again not fair, until the original owner actually came up and admitted he could not cope we could do nothing. 73 Alan G4ZFQ

Aren¡¯t you the lead moderator?
What's that? I see 7 people listed as "Owner", I take that to mean equal status. Hopefully equal share of any decisions. I do not want to see a new group with the same problems as this group had, a single owner who probably for a very good reason was unable to respond to messages or control the group. 73 Alan G4ZFQ

Not unless one of us creates a new group for those that don't want to move.
|
The lead moderator is the original owner of the group, at present I don't know how active he is but still he was theoriginal ownerso he carries a lot of weight as far as I'm concerned. I don't consider myself the lead as others are very active as moderators we are a set of equal moderators/owners, the only thing I did was when this group was being overwhelmed with SPAM I contacted the original owner to attempt to either have him assign additional moderators or if there was no response to have Yahoo assign multiple moderators. All ended OK as the original owner of the group assigned multiple moderators to help him out as he was getting overwhelmed with the SPAM. On 7/25/2017 3:42 AM, 'John' v321uk@... Who is actually charged with making the decision here? Do we know why that individual is not prepared to go ahead and make a decision, one way or the other??
The notion that by dragging around on this, we are going to end up with everyone happy is pretty pie in the sky, it seems to me. No matter what choice is made, a cohort of the membership is going to be unhappy. So what is preventing us from moving forward?
