quisk starting to work...
Hi,
I have a softrock kit here waiting to be assembled. Meanwhile I have started playing with the SDR software. Since I run Linux to the exclusion of M$ Window$ I have started working with Quisk. Today I finally got to the point where I have audio from my Kenwood (no I & Q) producing a spectrum display, detecting the CW signals, and presenting them to my ears. That is big step and had to sort out a lot of stuff. At the moment the waterfall display is all solid black. That will be another configuration step or peripheral software acquisition. I expect the next step will be finding the keys to the waterfall display in the mountain of documentation. The results I have today are encouraging and I'll be using what I have so far on the air. I have no time some days and only a limited time on days when I can break out the "manual" but I expect to get it all working. I intend to hook up the SDR to some of my regens and the WWII receivers that are wide as a barn door. And oh yes... to my SoftRock kit receiver when it is completed. 73, Bill KU8H |

开云体育Yes, it looks like a mixer setting, or wrong sound card
selected on HDSDR.? Try HDSDR without the softrock connected.? Hope
this screen snap goes through.? Here is mine on Win7 64 bit without a
softrock connected.? Should look like white noise.

Need a Little Help with Ensemble PTT/CW/CW2 Functions
I have complete a 40/30/20 meter version of the Ensemble RxTx. ?It is working nicely as a Receiver on my Dell desktop via sound card. ?I have two issues to resolve. ?One is to get USB sound doogle so I can move the Rx headphones and TX microphone off the internal card. ?I believe they are in conflict now because I only have the one card.
That is not the reason for this post.?I believe I have another issue: I notice that when I test the CW and CW2 function using CFGSR as recommended in the "Ensemble RXTX - Local Oscillator" build instructions only one green square on the CFGSR Test tab changes when I short connection 1 and 2 of J2. ?[You will need to look at page one of three of the schematic.] ?Only one square, "CW" changes green to not green. ?PTT does not change. Should PTT be changing too? ?Also, when I short 5 to 2, nothing changes. ?Neither CW2 or PTT. ?Is that right?? Allen |

开云体育Your display image reminds me what I got when there is audio feedback through the sound mixer.? You must have the line input silenced in the volume control.? Other mixer combinations may cause this also, for example having the mono or stereo mixers selected as input in the recording control instead of the line input.73 de Ignacio EB4APL El 19/04/2014 21:45, Kevin Timm

Re: ensemble rx ii has a problem
Did you listen to the Ensemble II line out directly with speakers or some other line input audio device plugged into the Ensemble II (i.e., not using the computer at all once you set the LO frequency)? If so, what did you hear?
If you do not have a strong local AM BC stn, maybe one of the WWV frequencies will provide a strong AM signal for you to listen to. BTW, your last screenshot post showed up fine in the Groups post. |
Re: ensemble rx ii has a problem
What you see on the HDSDR display is what is coming from the soundcard USB output and then decoded by the software. You will get some kind of HDSDR display even if the rx line output is not connected to the soundcard at all (or is unpowered which will effectively disconnect the rx, as you showed in one of your screenshots). The rx might still be working fine. I think you can determine if the rx is working by setting the LO with CFGSR and listening to the rx output directly, not using the soundcard and software at all.

Re: ensemble rx ii has a problem
Re. my last post: it is only the Local Osc. freq that matters for listening on the rx line output (the TUNE freq in HDSDR has no effect with this test).
It is probably better anyway to use CFGSR to set the local osc freq to eliminate any problem with HDSDR. With CFGSR, you use the TUNE tab to set the LO freq. Sorry if this is confusing. |
Re: ensemble rx ii has a problem
Perhaps we can rule out a problem with the soundcard and software decoding. If you use HDSDR to tune the LO and also the TUNE to a strong local AM broadcast station freq. with an antenna connected, then the audio should appear on the Ensemble II line output. I plugged a cheap computer amplified speaker into the rx and could hear the AM stn's audio, faintly but clearly on both the left and the right speaker. If you don't hear the AM station but hear the hash shown on your screenshot, this would seem to indicate a problem with the rx.

Re: Introducing the Hermes-Lite
Hi Steve,
Other than the site listed in your post is there a Yahoo Group or forum on your project? I'm interested in the next generation SRD and I have a? homebrew all band (hf-6) transceiver using PowerSDR. I can't help with the code but would be willing to modify my existing radio as a test bed and have a fair amount of test equiptment. Joe?? wa9cgz |

Subject: [softrock40] Re: ensemble rx ii has a problem without 12v I have a (reasonably) flat line @ 48khz - with the spike at the LO frequencyThere is no guarantee that your sound systems will work higher than 48K without some configuration in their panels. Sometimes this can be tricky, so leave it at 48K for now. So, do you now see signals when you connect a good antenna? Assuming you have checked the basic sound mixer controls for correct input selection and gain. 73 Alan G4ZFQ |

My internal card does 192/24 My external card does 96/24 Input : Softrock Si570 Input channel mode for RX: I/Q Output channel mode for RX: AF to both channels Swap I and Q is checked (I swapped the jumpers during build as recommended) |

Ensemble 30/20/17 for sale
I have a softrock ensemble Rxtx 30/20/17 that works well, and I have built the 30 meter filter for it. ?The Rxtx was built for me by Tony himself. ?But I just bought a new laptop with a weird sound card, and I'm doing pretty exclusively straight key work these days, so I'm ready to sell the softrock. ?$100
