In addition, the multinational nature of the corporate giants make the laws
of various countries unenforceable, if not irrelevant. Ottawa can prohibit
Microsoft or Yahoo, or Amazon, or Google from doing this or that with your
data but such prohibitions will make little or no difference to database
administrators in Sri Lanka or Surinam. Our information is out there and it
is going to remain out there despite blustering parliamentarians and
earnest regulators.
It shouldn't be like this but it is.
