Re: NodeRed -> KISS -> Direwolf -> HamRadio aprs.fi Telemetry data

Following too.? I'd like to monitor a property via APRS.? Not only I'd like to send APRS packets with info attached, I'd love to see the flow on the receiving side polling APRS.FI to gather that info into Node Red.

Hi Kevin,
?
I¡¯d love to see your flow as well. My remote station is a 2 hour drive away. It would be great to troubleshoot why it went offline with telemetry via APRS.?

Re: NodeRed -> KISS -> Direwolf -> HamRadio aprs.fi Telemetry data

Good morning Kevin

I, too, would like to study your flow because my main
QTH is in a remote site at CN98pi located in the North
Cascades National Park. It would be great to access a
radio there for 160 meter work!

Re: NodeRed -> KISS -> Direwolf -> HamRadio aprs.fi Telemetry data

Hi Kevin. I would appreciate it if you would post the flow for the APRS telemetry data manipulation. I am in similar circumstances with our offgrid cabin in Northern Arizona.
Thanks...

Re: Issue with FRStack install on Justin's (AI5OS) RPi

Hi there,
I agree that node-red is not for everybody. ?The limitation that I¡¯m having with it is not for lack of knowledge, it is the inaccessibility of the platform¡¯s development environment with current models of screen-reader. ?However it doeskin this case solve my problem of wanting to have a solution to control my radio, amp and rotator remotely. ?Believe me I¡¯d love to take advantage, and put together my own flows, and build my own nodes, I can think of several that I¡¯d like to work with using the Kenwood-ts890, and the flex. ?However, I¡±m limited that the pallet is not accessible to any of the available screenreader commonly used by folks who are blind, VoiceOver for the Mac, NVDA for windows, and Orca for Linux. ?If the node-red community could be encouraged to think about accessibility in the development plat form that would be awesome. ?
Thanks,
Justin-ai5os

NodeRed -> KISS -> Direwolf -> HamRadio aprs.fi Telemetry data

Bit of a story, but I have a very remote off grid homestead that I need to be able to monitor when I am not there.? ?I have starlink, but when the snow is heavy and covers the dish it doesn't always work.? Plus it takes quite a bit of power and again, when the snow covers the panels it can and does fail due to lack of power.
?
Using a Yausu Ft-2980 coupled to a RasberryPi using a digirig, I built a flow that monitors key systems, and send the telemetry data over the air to one of the local digipeaters.? ?No internet required and I can see the data from anywhere.
?
The basic approach is for NodeRed to write the data in APRS formatted files, where the kissutil watches them and sends the packets to direwolf, which then sends them out.? ?It would be easy to cut out the kissutil and send the data directly to direwolf, but it was a lot easier to troubleshoot the packets when I could see them in files.
?
I'd be happy to post the flow or help anyone setup something similar.
?
? has the end results.?

TX band of FlexRadio 8400 from Node-Red

Hello everyone.

Could someone tell me how to extract the active band (TX) of the Flex 8400 from node-red?

Thanks in advance.

I also agree. When I help people I try to teach them so they can learn and be able to customize flows to make them ¡°their own¡±.?

In Justin¡¯s case, he is more than capable of working with Node Red. The issue is Node Red is a graphical low code programming environment and the editor is not designed for sight impaired users. This, he needs assistance.?

As far as .Net, I am going to build a new Pi later today and include FRStack and whatever version of .Net Mark requires now. I will update the WiKi accordingly.?

If anyone has information they would like to see as a document on the WiKi section, please contact me. My email on QRZ is good.?

I had health issues in 2024 that kept my participation here very low but 2025 is starting off well and I will be more involved.?

Last, when demonstrating Node Red I look at the target audience and tailor my presentation to try and fit for their use with examples of how Node Red can help make their radio operating easier. For a crowd at Xenia, it is a mixed bag. Show some things to get them thinking of how Node Red could work for them. I suggested a live demo of Stream Deck remote integration, which I had done back at Xenia a few years ago.?

And the number one thing, have fun! Working with Node Red can be rewarding, especially for those with no formal programming experience.?

Sorry I got long winded. Off to winter Fied Day to retrieve my Flex 8600 unless one of the other club members decided they need it more ;-)

I did a video on YouTube showing the simple 4 relay flow and when I wrote the WST article, I put a link to the video.?

Something to consider as a ¡°hook¡±, bring a Stream Deck and plug it in your laptop to show how it can be used with Node Red remotely. I did that at Xenia a few years ago.?

Hi, Kyle:

I mentioned this to you last year but I think it is very worthwhile to show a simple example of creating a program by wiring together nodes. What makes Node Red attractive to non-programmers is its graphical interface. In other words, instead of typing cryptic computer code you can create the logical flow of a program graphically.

Hi Kyle,

Building dashboards!

I don¡¯t usually have trouble getting things to work the way I want ¡°behind the curtains¡±, but I struggle with getting status displayed via the dashboard. I end up just using the default, very plain controls.

Sorry I¡¯ll miss you at HamCation!

Hi Kyle

I¡¯ve always had trouble installing FRStack and Microsoft Visual Studio as the version numbers are different to the wiki (no criticism intended) as this happens to all software, however if you follow the wiki as a new user it sort of screws you up.
