welcome to the machine!
I'm pleased to meet you OMs!?
My next node red project is a "click for power" flow to allow an Alpha 87a to be tuned and ready for a Flex 6600. Basically a hands-off user interface - click and when you get a green indicator you're QRO, along with the correct antenna and BPFs.?? To learn about managing serial ports (the Alpha 87 uses one) I started messing with an old Oregon Scientific weather station.? In a matter of a couple of hours I had XML data and a dashboard going.?? 73 Andy VA3CW (ex-VE3EKF) Toronto, ON - FN03fp |
Re: welcome to the machine!
Andy Good luck with your project.? Dave, WO2X is working on a similar project except?with an Elecraft Amp. Here is a link to my flows on Git Hub.? Perhaps some will give you ideas for your project: In the "Master" folder is a flow called "Tune Button".? This will cause the Flex to go into or out of Tune. ? Dave and I worked together this last weekend to build the flow.? You may need this as part of your larger project. The most important part of the flow is the function node with the Flex API bind and tune commands.? If you are using multiplex, the command must contain the "Bind" command and the "Tune" command. ? The "Bind" command must contain the "Client ID" of the client you want to use as the TX source.? You can get your client ids by hovering over the radio selector box on the applicable client's Smart SDR ?log in window. ?(Hover, after you log into the client). If you do not use multiplex, then you do not need to include the "Bind" command in the overall "Tune" command, since there is only one possible client. The "Stop Tune" command function is common to all clients. Since I use multiplex and have several clients, I built a ?"Tune" command for each client and select the one to use from a pull-down selector. I am using a button for Tune on/off, but if you add inject nodes to each input of the Tune On and Tune Off commands, instead of the button, the functions will send their respective commands to the Flex when you send a timestamp?and you can customize the functions to your project. Hi all (10 of you! :) I want to make sure that everyone knows that this forum is not for just FlexRadio projects.? It just happens that it started with Flex 6000 series radios. If you are working with other radios and amateur?hardware, you are welcome to be part? of this group as well.?? I would like all of you 'core' members to help reinforce that as we get new members to join. 73 Mike va3mw |
Node Red for hams - How to guide
Hi All, ? Welcome to the Node Red for ham radio group! Should be a lot of fun. ? I got involved with Node Red when I was hospitalized in September last year. Mike VA3MW and Andreas N6NU showed me some stuff they were playing with and I decided it would be fun to try and automate some things in the shack to make left easier when running remote. So I started with a few flows from Mike and Andreas and started customizing them for my Flex 6700. I then added control and monitoring for the KPA1500 and, Rotor control via PSTRotator UDP server, outlet control using a Digital Loggers Web Switch Pro and basic telemetry out of the radio. ? I have since helped others along the way with things like SteppIR interface (Alan and Andreas get most of the credit), UDP broadcast for Green Heron Everywhere and HF Auto, and some other stuff. ? I decided to make an image of my Node Red Pi today and I killed another Samsung microSD card. Third Samsung card that got hot and cracked. I use generic cards from Micro Center and never an issue so now building a new Pi from scratch. I am documenting the steps with hopes of putting together a how-to guide for people who need some hand holding. The idea is to get more people involved with various hardware and collaborate to share our flows. ? I have some tweaking to do on my Flex Radio flow but by tomorrow I will upload my flows to this Groups.io site. I will post instructions on how to access the files as well as upload your flows for others to share. I should have a very rough copy of the how-to by tomorrow for those that want to jump in and help edit it or want to get started with Node Red. ? Again, thanks for joining. I hope we can work together and have fun doing it! ? Dave wo2x |
Re: welcome to the machine!
Hi everybody. I can attest to Alan's and Dave's flows, as they both (and Michael) have been great and helped me getting my flows together. I'm using flows to control a DLI Webswitch, my DCU-2 rotor, generate weather alerts and get info from my Flex 6300. Will keep looking for more flows and for more projects. Hopefully I'll be able to share some soon. Santiago HI8SMX ______________ 73 de Santiago HI8SMX web:? YouTube: HI8SMX? Twitter: @hi8smx Instagram: hi8smx |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSee my post from before for equipment I have flows for.For power ¡°strips¡± I use the Digital Loggers Web Switch Pro. 8 individually switchable outlets and two outlets always on. Here is a picture of my dashboard. I am actually adding more stuff and tweaking the dash. You can see the outlet control on the right side. Re: introductions
Great idea Michael. On my side I'm already using Node Red for:
- Control DCU2 Rotator? - Monitor certain Flex 6300 info - Control DLI Webswitch - Monitor weather at shack and trigger email for Thunder and Rain - Send frequency info to Green Heron Select 8 Antenna Switch and HF Auto Tuner - Monitor internet and connections (separate tab on dashboard) - Complete Weather and Forecast (separate tab on dashboard)? And working on: - Turn off DLI Switch on Thunder reports from weather flow (stuck on it right now) - Temperature sensors for shack (not purchased yet) - Expand radio information and control flows - Incorporate fans at shack (not purchased yet) If I can help anyone on anything please let me know.
