install of node red on raspberry pi

I have installed node-red per instructions on a video from Kyle AA0Z on youtube. At a point that I need to edit the settings I put the following command in CMD window ( sudo nano /home/pi/.node-red/settings.js) and when I hit enter I get the following error in a cmd window that should contain the settings script to be edited.? [Directory 'home/pi/.node-red' does not exist] . I have uninstalled the previous installation and reinstalled to no avail. Get the same error each time. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Remotely monitor RPi devices

Edited

Ron,

Thanks... I've looked at that solution.? He installed NR on all of his RPi and used the MQTT nodes to exchange info.? Its a bit too complex and high maintenance for me.

I found a way to run a Python script on the NR host which will remotely execute a shell script to obtain the system info.? Once I get this working, all I have to do is use a NR Execute node to run the Python script.? I'm going to give this a try and see how it works.

Ron,

Thanks... I've already loaded that flow.? It is a similar flow which I use to monitor the RPi where I'm hosting NR.? I'm looking for a flow which retrieves system info but from a remote RPi.

Look for Pi monitor. It's a text file that contains json. When in the shack tomorrow, I will check the RPi monitor I am running.?

Dave,

I did a Google search but not using the phrase you recommended.? Will try that again as well as search the Files section.

I wasn't clear about my setup in my original post... my remote shack is connected to my house and both are behind my firewall so fortunately I will not have to deal with the complexity of NAT/port forwarding on the firewall.

Yes. In the file section should be at least one flow. Also do a Google search for Raspberry api Monitor flow for Node Red. ?Sorry, not home right now.?

You’ll need to port forward at outside port to port 1880 and IP of the Pi. If multiple you can forward one port to each Pi’s IP and internal 1880 for each Pi.?

Use a dynamic DNS service so you can have a friendly name to access the Node Red dashboard remotely.?

There are ways to make it more secure such as password access to dash or using a VPN service such as TailScale.?

From what I can tell if you load certain flows that have CSS code that is added to the head section it can cause dark and custom theme to not work.?

I ran into the problem then uninstalled my CSS flow, deployed, then imported the CSS flow and deployed.?

Possible explanation.?

I have saved the package.json in my Documents folder on the pi, but do not see how to import it back into node-red in the palette manager. Any help with this?

By running the bash script to install Node Red it only will update Node Ted to latest version. What are you trying to accomplish?

Re: 13 Colonies Dashboard

Updated the 13 Colonies JSON file in the files section under my callsign.? The last update.?

Changes before the event starts tomorrow at 9am Eastern
Added some CSS formatting.
Added IRC (search for irc for the install node) node to connect to the DX Summit cluster (no telnet connection for that cluster).? Here is IRC info if it doesn't carry over.? server : irc.radiochat.org channel : #CQDX
Added state abbreviation after the 1by1 callsign.?

Once connected to the IRC server and telnet cluster, will monitor all the spots and only filter the 13 colonies/bonus stations and display them in the table on the left hand side.? Feel free to add voice announcement or email notifications.?

Also a companion video which may help

Read the ReadMe file for information on using the flows and other files. Some have generic passwords set.

Dave,

Is there a place to download your setup specifically??
I have similar hardware and the streamdeck, but was having trouble piecing together the files to get it in one place.

Thanks

Andrew?
